I have a BA Egas setup. It recently went all lumpy then died shortly after starting. I removed the two screws at the bottom of the Vialle convertor and discovered it was full of coolant.

Upon opening the convertor I discovered that everything looked good. However, when I held the rubber gasket that seperated the coolant from the gas up to the sun I noticed some tiny cracks.

After ringing Ford, I discovered they knew very little about the convertor and that a replacement quote of $2400 given. No parts were available.

The average gas tech quoted around $1100

After making many phone calls I finally discovered that you can source a gasket for the convertor from Boral Alternative Fuel Systems in Sydney for just $12 plus postage, new bellows were only $30!!

I also discovered that the Polliauto rubber gasket is exactly the same as the Vialle (but not all other parts are compatable). Therefore I sourced a Polliauto gasket from my local gas tech (Parnell, Killkenny SA) for $20. Took me about an hour all up to replace and re-fit.

So I guess please explain FORD, how can you suggest a $2400 replacement option for a job that was fixed for just $20!! Thanks guys at Parnell.

If you took it anywhere else they probably would have just said the same thing.
Most mechanics now are just remove and replacers, and dont actually do much repairs.

Ford sources the E-gas components from Boral Alternative Fuel Systems which is now known as Orbital Gas Products. Give them a call and they'll help you sort the problem out.
