As of yesterday the system itself is installed  I swapped it over from my BA wagon. Its a 2 year old OMVL system. I didn't realise before until I removed the unit that it also suits 4 and 8 cyl as well as the 6. The wires for each cylinder are in groups of 4 and also has the allowance on each grouping for a converter. So you could run two on a V8 I guess.

I've done my XF and my AU installs as well and the mechanic has, or will in my AU case, fit the line and check the rest and sign it off.

Another LPG mechanic around the corner from me has told me as well he has the program to tune my BA OMVL system so if necessary I'll see him.

was the tank the same on a BA wagon as on a territory?

so u have the dream 21 system....did u notice the change to petrol as u got into the higher revs?

The old AEB injectors used on the Sprint Gas / OMVL Dream XXI systems sold in Australia had just enough flow to enable our VZ Commodore SV6 to run to the redline purely on LPG without the need to switch back to petrol. I have been told that the new OMVL injectors used on the latest Dream XXI systems flow just as well and should be able to run a NA Falcon I6 to redline as well. I'd say the power limit for most gas injection systems for 6-cylinder engines is around 180-200 flywheel kilowatts. The exception to the rule is any system that uses Keihin injectors, namely the EuroGas SVI and Prins VSI systems.

Regards,
Dave

Hey mate, just wondering what time frames your speaking of re old and new. I suspect mine are the older type (went in late 2006), but then there was talk of OMVL injectors before mine that were limited in flow so I'm wondering.

I'm not sure what system is set at, but I don't think I've revved it to 4500 much or at all. And if I have it was only because I was pulling out into traffic and would not have been paying attention to it.

It also beeps when doing the high RPM switchover :)

The only time I ever notice a change over is as I leave my place, I drive up a fairly steep hill, right at the top is a stop sign and I turn right. Well when I'm going through that right, it is always the place it switches over. It just hesitates for a bit then off it goes. Worse in the winter months though.

ah so it always starts on pet and runs that way for a little before going over to lpg....my vapour system will start on lpg but i usually start and switch immediately

I can set my EasyJet system to start on LPG, but it's not a great idea in the colder months, the car is very sluggish until it starts to warm up. If it starts on petrol it will idle on petrol until you rev it past a set parameter in the ECU, which i have set to 2500rpm, then it will switch over to LPG. It can also avoid switch over if the coolant temp is below a certain variable you can set as well, eg 30deg C.

I can p***y foot around in the mornings on Petrol keeping under 2500 so it can warm up while driving a bit. I have thermo's in the EB so it warms up pretty quickly even when moving. My system seems to max out at about 4500rpm, and i wish it could switch back to petrol automatically.

Most LPG ECU's can run anything from 4-8cyl's, depending on the wiring loom. I've been thinking about getting 2 more injectors & wiring them up, but i don't know if the LPG reg can flow enough to feed them anyway!

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Only trouble is you need to buy an 'engineers key' to unlock all the really cool stuff.. ie maps.
They cost a couple hundred when I last looked. Other vendors may differ.

I just had a look at the latest version, this is interesting..

Yeah, the OMVL Dream XXI software is as good as it has ever been. The great thing is that you can set the system so that it injects a little bit of petrol at the high revs so that you can avoid leaning out from reaching the limit of injector flow. Effectively, you'll be running on LPG all the way to the redline with petrol supplementation.

Regards,
Dave

That is really cool, and i wish my system could do that, it would solve my high rpm lean out issues.

Cheers

Wouldn't mind buying 1 of these kits from ebay, just not sure yet. Cost would be about 1g or just over, was it hard to install??

The system I got is cheap.
If I gain power on gas and have no loss on petrol, then I will be happy.
This system will soon be fitted to my wagon as a tow car.
