hello everyone,it`s time to convert my xf bugdet build ute to staight gas since i`m moving and will be traveling further to work.it`s going to be a custom tank set-up with 2 donut tanks under the tray where the old fuel tank is and other side.this will give me 100 useable Lt`s.i have a donut / landi system on my wife`s ef wagon but seems to restrictive up in the rev range.i rang gas research but the under hood parts are $1350.i`m trying to keep the budget at $1750 as this is the current rebate.also will be fitting this and complaince at a friends workshop so there will be no labour cost.who has seen a good system that doens`t seem to lose a lot of power or am i dreaming.

If you don't have to pay labor, why not go the GRA system? Can your friend try to get it at trade price? (or is that trade price you have quoted?) Do you already have a LPG tank or tanks? If not, what can you source second hand "in-test" tanks for in your area? Do you really need 100lt of LPG capacity right now? You could probably get 1 second hand "in-test" tank, a GRA under bonnet kit, then hook it up for about the cost of the rebate. Then when you get the rebate back, get a 2nd tank fit? Cheers ToranaGuy

I like your idea Torana Guy.i don`t know if the gra is trade or retail, will find out next week.hardest part is finding donut tanks as most are in VIC .vapour injection would be nice but to much $$$$$$.i did see a company in NSW called gas injection techlogies making a kit which replace`s the injectior`s with lpg injector`s and uses the standard petrol ecu to control.anyone heard of this company?

Thx man. If it is retail, trade should knock a bit off it, maybe enough to get 1 LPG tank? Do both tanks have to be donut? Could you fit one std lpg tank, then fit a donut tank where the petrol tank was down the track? Vapor injection is nice, but pricey too. I've got it on the EB, and i've got impco 425's on both of the Xr8's, they seem to run fine in the driveway, should have one on the road soon, to see how it goes. I remember reading about gas injection technologies, haven't heard anything about them in a long time. It was a great idea, but a little on the late side in trying to get to market. It would still be great if it could do liquid injection, but i doubt that's possible with a factory ecu due to liquid gas's expansion rate.... Cheers ToranaGuy

I have a Impco 425 on my EF 4L straight gas.
Originally had a impco 225 mixer, but after some basic manometer testing it was proven to be too restrictive. Changing to 425 also improved 0-100 times by 1.5seconds and litres per 100 improved by 2L/100! Had to make up the pipework & adapters myself, used a B2 converter. Bought parts on eBay, got the 425 & airhorn adapter new on eBay from the usa. Since this pic was taken I have changed the plastic intake pipe going into the airbox lid, it was found to be too restrictive as well. I have changed it to a 3" pipe with a bellmouth in the top of the lid. Total restriction now is 6" of H20 at the top of the mixer. You'll never have maximum power using simple converters. You need to have a pressure drop (restriction) through the mixer to help draw the gas out of the converter. Only way for max power is vapour injection system. Stay away from GRA. Its crap. GRA is as primitive as it gets. Economy is the worse than Impco. I worked for GRA for a little while a couple of years back and left in disgust - both at the equipment and the company. They aren't worthy of your money. |

Results say otherwise. though i will agree with the comment regarding the company itself.

Three letters

seeing as you have the XF (assuming its cross flow? nto sure when they changed lol) i'd fit a 4 barrel manifold with holley 4 barrel baseplate and the imcp 425 ontop.
should be able to do it easily with the budget you have set. the 425 can support a fair bit of power if its setup correctly.
