Hi guys just after some help. I currently have a BA XT which runs a factory gas sytem. The car drives like a dream, however I was given the car for free and now need to give it back to my dad.
Therefore I am in the market for a new car. I want to stick with gas as it much cheaper to run as I do around 100Km a day for work (I have 4 other cars that I am kinda building up slowly also) Therefore I was thinking of purchasing a BA xr6 turbo as I have seen some go for around 10-12k. I am aware that you can fit liquid gas injection into the BA and achieve good power results. However I was wondering if you could mount the gas tank under the car like the egas system? and secondly I plan to produce around 300-350rwk out of the car obviously with supporting mods I just want to know if the BA can handle this sort of power on a daily basis? (car will not be copping a thrashing) I would be over the moon with 300rwk really. A few people have told me to take the BF options mainly due to the 6 speed auto however I have a good wrecker mate who can give me a box for $500 (so would I be able to fit this upto the BA instead of the 4 speed)? Or would i be better off with the BF overall due to other components also? Cheers in advance |

Yeah mate go with the BFII simply due to the engine been Stronger then the BA and the 6 Speed zf great boxes to i've got the bfII xr6t with the 6 speed with since near new 2 years ago now clocking just over 200thou kays and still slight hick ups but it drives like a dream
also says copping a thrashing i wouldnt live to those words because first time you put your foot down you'll just love it

The only reason I want to install the gas tank under the car is i have a 18inch kicker sub which pretty much takes up all the boot space.
So does anyone know if its possible to piss off the petrol tank and mount the gas tank under there? However I am also aware even with gas injection the car still uses petrol at start up so I am happy to purchase a small fuel cell and place that in the spare wheel area (because I would drive the car on gas only and only use petrol to start it up. Is all of this possbile? or just a dream? If I have to mount the gas tank in the car it wouldnt be too much of a hassle because the egas boots are pretty small anway due to the gas tank under the car so with the gas tank in the car I dont think i would have to give up too much room?? |

Can you get dedidcated XR6 turbo's by any chance? And also the only reason I am going to all the fuss for this sub is (all my audio gear has costs me close to 7g's so I dont really want it to go to waste. |

I know would be easier just to piss off the audio gear however I like my tunes.
And further I wouldnt even get close to the price I paid for it as its all comp level stuff. But I am def keen on the links you have posted above. I didnt know ford made xr6's on straight gas. |

I know what your saying but I dont want to have to go to all that effort of replacing an entire driveline. I just dont have the time.

All your problems will be SOLVED by using a toroidal LPG cylinder.

Hrrm that sounds like a good option. Because with all the audio crap I wont be able to access the spare tyre anyway. Do you know how many liters the gas tank would be?

Approximately the same capacity as the normal cylinders - 55L usable. These cylinders are a VERY popular option with the JTG Liquid Injection system, so you'll have to request it well in advance. Worth the price difference though. There's also an optional 68L usable toroidal cylinder that requires your gas fitter to make custom brackets, but the benefit of an extra 13L of storage can be quite significant.
Once again, thanks to my mate blownba for the photo.
