This is the first bit of sense to come out of this f**k wits mouth since he was born I would dare say. Conroy has announced that under new anti siphoning laws Bathurst MUST be screened live and in its entirety. Obviously he had the s**t that the kiwis knew who won this year before us Aussies did too.

I was wondering about that. I went out and got a decent lcd tv a few months back, but the resolution is still s**t. Whats the point of having HD TV if they wont broadcast in it? This Conroy fella is a twit, instead of piss f@rt about getting fast internets, why doesnt he cover the basics, ie get some more coverage for mobile phones (ie highly transited major remote highways for example the Stuart Hwy and all those rural areas where all you get if your lucky is Telstra as well as all those silly little black spots in the cities) and get the TV coverage area expanded to the smaller regional centres that only have ABC and stupid bloody Imparja. Not to mention my 'when is HD not HD' reception here in Cairns. If hes going to waste money, waste it on something we ALL can use. I dont need songs in under a second, or movies downloaded in 2 minutes, hell, the porn comes down the pipe faster than it plays lol, what more do we need? 1 gig per second might be great for Uni's and big business and the stock exchange, but I'm happy with my 1.5 mbps.

Same thing I said when I had 28k and I don't think I could go back now.. The broadcasters only get so much bandwidth to transmit on and get the attention of as many users as they can with their space. While HDTV is cool and everyone who buys a HDTV wants to watch HDTV free to air, the fact is that not everyone has one and HDTV takes up more space than a normal channel does. They would rather have an extra channel to attract more people than HDTV. Mobile and TV coverage is not really in control of the Govt any more except maybe Telstra, ABC and SBS which is why they have the best coverage. It doesn't make economic sense for non govt companies to spend so much money on infrastructure when only a couple of dudes in a shack are going to use it.

Yeah, I was thinking more about emergency use than anything. Especially at night. Everyone has a mobile phone now and almost all of them dont work too well once you get 50 k's from a town. Problem is roads like the stuart highway have towns 400ks apart. Its just about every second week that a german tourist rolls a troop carrier on that road and generally dies while someone drives x hundred k's to get help. There are repeater towers at fairly close intervals across the landscape which already have telstra equipment inside and I honestly dont see why they cant hang some gear off the side of each one for the mobiles to work as an emergency use system if anything.
As for TV, they shouldnt call their chanels HD if its not in HD. As for Conroy, he's a dummy and should be sweeping the floors in parliament with a toothbrush. |
