With Ford Australia's decision today to cut all backing with v8 Supercar teams in Australia at the end of the 2015 season.
I for one will be looking at a new blue collar manufacture to follow (except GMH).
Ford Australia can waste money sponsoring a million different events but that is nothing compared to what motorsport brings back to them with not just car sales but brand mechandise sales as well.

GMH wont be putting the coin in it either.
I honestly don't know what all the fuss about them walking away is.
They walked in 74 after the 1 2.
They come back for a short spell in the late 80s and walked away again.
Then they come back for the Supertaxis.
People are getting all up in arms about it , its happened before and will happen again.
FPR wont even be in the race anyway once Penske has got the ball rolling and has settled in.

i stopped following supercars once i realised that it had nothing to do with the bathurst i grew up on ... plus was only a 2horse race

but........

when the merc's & olov's got into it .. i thort.... hmmm ...... then nah .. it's not reallly relevant to any car that you can buy/drive [for me anyway lol ] .... but don't get me wrong .. i still love watchin cars race around the track


but i prefer cars i can buy [or at least the general public can] racing

No team will do a Erebus and go it alone again to build and get certified a manufacturers car without that manufacturers support.
Remember it is not like the early days where you slap a roll cage and race motor in a standard car and go racing.

Chrysler Australia has revealed a tantalising glimpse into the behind-the-scenes battle to get more car makers to join the previously two-make series from next year, including revealing the price of admission to Australian motor sport's most exclusive club.

The US brand's Australian chief executive, Clyde Campbell, revealed to Drive that talks with an unnamed V8 Supercars team about entering a Chryster-branded vehicle in the all-new competition starting next year had involved a funding injection of “about $12 million”.

So to get a new car on the line is going to cost a lot even if you have the interchangable items ready to go.
