mate they have the same V6 motor and box that the AX-AY telstar have in them. they are the best part of the car.

the rest of the car is american s**t and the parts are way overpriced.
eveyone knows the yanks have lost it when it comes to building quality cars you just have to look at whats been offered
taurus
exploder
neon
mustang
and the list goes on. and they are all s**t heaps

buy one!! buy one!!
then phone me for some parts!!

front bar $1250
headlamps $500 each
bonnet $1500
taillamps $400
guards $500

and these are secondhand prices at about 1/2 new price

They are based on a Mazda MX6, C*** of any engine to work on, true shoe horn.

They look nice but as " xr8 dismantler " said they are American s**t, you should see how poor the quality of interior etc, just like Exploders but the Exploder was a much worse vehicle.

Don't pick on the Taurus xr8 dismantler, as f**k ugly those cars were, not knowing which was the front from the back, they were the best thing I have ever seen from USA, the ones I used to service, were nice to drive (for a large FWD car), well finished and reliable (that was when I serviced them, no idea these days how they lasted).
Did you know the Taurus was the only US car I ever saw with "built with pride" on it, Exploders should have had "Built while stoned" cause everything was falling off from the factory.

Hmm Mustang, never worked or been in one, but paint was s**t, and I never saw a good write up about one except when talking about the sweet 4.6DOHC reving to 7000RPM, the only thing jouros and race car drivers loved.

A neighbour let me have his one for a weekend a few years back( going O/S) and it was exactly the same one as in your pic. It was an auto and had about 130Kw's(chipped, etc). It seemed a bit sluggish of the blocks. But did it boogy after 60km/h. She drove like it was on tracks sometimes but was sweet around tight corners. But I liked it despite it having FWD and a Mazda 2.5 V6 motor. Though like Xr8 Dismantler was saying parts are VERRRRY expensive. A side mirror is like $ 600 and not to mention insurance is a bit steep cause it is classed as a sports car. They go hard in the USA in the Drag racing scene. They drop like 600cui V8 motors in them and they run mid to late 7's :D :D

2.5L v6 is so punchy, dad has a 92 telstar v6 with the same engine, totally stock it ate a loud eb 5.0L.
wanna replace an alternator on it? - undo the engine mount (have a look how tight the fit of the motor is.

the motor is a duratech V6 and is a terrific motor with heaps of grunt. it is used in a lot of different cars in australia, japan and the usa.
this motor is available in 2ltr , 2.5 and 3 ltr versions and can found in
Taurus , mazda 626 , probe , telstar ,mazda tribute/ford escape plus more. it is the best part of the probe

My grandpa has a 1998 probe, its a good car, build quality is a bit questionable (some bits of enterior are a bit shabby), the motor is good, it seems to haul it along quite well, (the probe is 1350 odd KG, the motor is 138KW i think), it corners like mad, ive never been in a car that turned that well, its definitely a winner in the handling department, but the engine bay is a bloody nightmare. if you like its looks, id say go for it,
