Interested to see a comparison, it seems to be no secret that the Ford Territorys been a great success, and blew the Holden Adventura away. Interesting to see how Holdens second attempt, the Captiva (I think it's called) will compare. I'm pretty sure it's a V6 of lower capacity and so would be a competitor.

It's a Gaewoo.
How good can it possibly be? No comparison IMO. |

it is butt ugly too.
i did hear a terrible story today that ford is going to stop production of the territory though. Might have to buy one now.

It wouldn't make sense for them to stop production of the territory

maybe they are stopping producction for a few days or something? but they couldnt just stop building territorys period.
ive been reading in the paper how ford have cut falcon production by 90 cars a day. should be interesting this captiva. its cheaper for a start, uses less petrol its new and not many other people will have em which is always a draw card for wankers. apparantly holden have actually had a hand in the engineering of this one, rather than just sticking a lion badge on *cough barina, cough viva* and its meant to be a half decent jigger. just looking at it though it looks pretty tacky (like most other things coming from korea) whereas the Territory oozes refined class (just dont mention build quailty). Holden themselves have said they dont expect to outsell Territory. maybe they're just trying to save themselves incase it flops like the adventra, or maybe they know its just an average car.

Yeah ive seen captivas getting around adelaide, almost got hit by one of the clowns that works in the city holden dealership. Idiots.
But anyways... these "4x4s" all look the same to me!

I belive one of the holden turkeys who was big in the design of the recent Monaro was involved with the Captiva, aswell as some other honcho from Holden Australia.
As for Ford stopping production of the Territory, would be a suprise and prolly mean the death for Ford Australia, as Falcon sales are droping, only reason for keep aussie built I6 is that it's now very common since being used in two cars ehre - Tezza and Falcoooon. |

yeah, id say you're right about the death of local production. if the next falcon/territory dont get half decent exports happening, i wouildnt be suprised it that were the last of them

Apparently the Captiva has some pretty decent computing power onboard. A seperate brain controls the 4WD, it runs on 2 wheels until the computer senses a need for 4 wheels and kicks them in.

According to the ad it uses the Australian built V6, so same engine as the Comodore then.

Yeah interesting that. A smaller capacity version of the same engine.

i'd like a smaller capacity version of our 4L turbos. revs are good! |

No there not. the torque of the engine is sensational, not just performance, but practically wise too. Kit, the V6 seems to come in many smaller capacity's already, I'm pretty sure either Saab or Alfa use the same V6 in 2.8L capacity or something and it won some big enging award like a year ago, at the same time that the critics were saying the same engine in 3.8L in the comos is not so great. |
