Faark!!
If I wanna put 2 big twins up my driveway I effin well will! Back in Alice, we were at a party in the local industrial area, this bloke owned his shed and block on the street, opposite that was a strip of park about 20 meters wide then on the other side was a road past a residential area. Anyhow we are having fun, untill some dood did a burnout up the road on the resedential side, give it 20 mins and cop were patrolling the street, couldn't find the offender but spotted the partay on our side, so they dove around and started checking the cars out the front for "evidence of burnouts", it was a joke, feeling hoods "ooh this ones warm", scraping gaurds for bits of rubber and feeling tyre surfaces. the p****d people started to annoy and play around so they got antsy and started getting technical with the owner of the property cos he had a blue Nissan too same as the report. (his car was just inside the gate too) Next thing he's cutting SICK! They try getting clever saying they can get the caller to ID the car, and they can take it off him, but of course if he admits it they will go easier on him (man I hate that line), so he says somthin like "your not arresting me so I can go if I want, also you are here on my property for an incident on another street, you've had no complaints for this place so leave now. They realise he's right and try to have the last word, so suddenly he yells RIGHT! he jumps in his car, on the spot starts it, and loads up the BIGGEST standstill right there! Engines pinging, they tryin to tell him to stop and start jumping all over the place 40 people who have gathered around start yellin, phones come out for a video start chanting "cops can leave" Old mate smokes it for at least 3 minits as the cops call backup and look at each other what to do that they legally can, he then stops, kills the car and hops out. Says HOW WAS THAT! On PRIVATE PROPERTY TOO! it was almost a riot people cheering and gettin excited but no one did get criminally silly, then a Sargent rocks up as the smoke is still clearing, sorts out the other 2 coppers and they all leave with a stern warning that there will be zero tolerance of there is any reports. It was hilarious! The whole thing was like watching a comedy sketch. All up, these cops were out on legend patrol, and got shut down. Yes the guvmints are fernargened and have no real touch with the community except to tell us how to live. And if I wanna do somthing inside my fence line then that's my freaking business and I'll do it at 3 AM if i want to....as long as I know I won't disturb my neighbors. EDIT, I just read the article, and it says nothing about hooning on private property being illegal, just that they won't need a warrant to enter private property to get to a offending vehicle...after the fact.

Nice story, your take on things is where it should stay at, if its not impacting on anyone (noise, smoke etc) it should be fine. may have helped if slick and myself had read the article first as well - although its still s**t, the police should not be allowed on your property for any reason (unless you are trying to kill somone/abusing your kids/missus) once you leave the property then they can get you - it would take a lot more manpower to camp out infront of a bikie clubhouse/drug dealers joint/suspected murderers place till they came outside and could be nabbed, but if theyd stop chasing people for stupid little things im sure theyd have the rescources to do so (or if the government stopped pissing our money up the wall on s**t).

There's no need to read the article mate because it'll eventually happen if gone unopposed.

and how do we oppose anything in this country? liberals/labour could say they will eat every child in the country and s**t small business owners (and company men) would still vote lib and the bogans/unionists would still vote for labour (and really most the minor parties have the same policies anyway - cept the s**t crazy parties) stuff like in lowlanes story probably happens a bit in the more colourfull suburbs and is all the evidence the gubmint needs to show the frightened masses that these laws are to protect them.

There are members of parliament that'll probe the issue if you have the numbers. look at the ETS, it was a group of minority that address the negative side effects of the scam and eventually found it's way to a senator that took noticed (potential votes)... the rest just followed after the word spread out.
The NSW's modification laws thats been put on hold. why? because of the masses banding together objecting to the s**t money grabbing restrictions. It's not that hard to do.

Your right there slick, it probably will be added to the ever growing new law list.
But what the article dose, (or dosnt) say, is what the reasons for the "no warrant needed entry". It may be now that if you do a skid then park in the shed, and Nanna calls the cops, they can't "technically" take any anti hoon law action becasue the car is on private property and they can't enter without a warrant...... side track for a sec to what JOSE said about doin big sit-outs at gang hideouts/houses. If the cops get a warrant after enough evidence provided (add in drug raids too) they can legally enter then and "exercise the long d**k of the law"...when used properly this method is pretty effective and cost friendly so to speak. ....back on track...hence they CAN take action in a carpark or street cos it IS a public place. Usually big businesses, ie maccas, woolies, IGA or the mall, have "private laws" against antisocial behavior in general and they are effectively deemed a public place in regard to the law.. but now it seems they want to change the older laws it to suit their needs with the new hoon laws an make it so the can take whatever action they deem necissary, Keeping in mind the circumstances I'm talking under. It may be only that circumstance (and similarly related s**t) they are changing it for, so it's similar to the abuse factor, entry regardless if it is highly suspected. Or, reading this again it may just well be that it'll be a new law against it as the thread title says. It's all just speculation anyway, my 2 cents I guess haha. we will have to just wait and see... Just glad I'm not in the east side. Lol.

Here is the article in question and highlighted is the part where it says it will be ilegal to commit a hoon act on private land. So without a warrant the police will be able to enter your private property and seize your private assets, ie your vehicle, then charge you for the pleasure of holding it for up to 6 months before getting it back. As playing loud music from a car on the road is an offence that can get your vehicle impounded, it will be better to play loud music from your home stereo, at least they won't confiscate that on the first visit. And don't forget that drink drivers have their cars impounded under the expanded act from a couple of years back. When loan companies confiscate your car or other items due to non payment of loan fees etc they must go through the court system before having the right to sieze your property. Our public servants will soon be immune from this basic legal process and become judge, jury and executioner without the backing of the court system, which is independent of the government.
Tough laws increase penalties for dangerous drivers, The Advertiser, October 04, 2010 12:04AM "A RECORD number of hoons have had their cars clamped or impounded and now face an increase in the length of time police can block them from their vehicles. Latest figures provided exclusively to The Advertiser show 5077 cars were clamped or impounded in the 12 months to July. The record figure is up from 3230 the year before and more than the total number of cars impounded or clamped between 2004 and 2008. Attorney-General John Rau said he would introduce tough new laws on October 31 to double the period police could impound a car from three months to six. Police also will be granted powers to clamp a car for a maximum 28 days instead of the current seven as well as force serial hoons to surrender their cars. These changes significantly ramp up penalties for those engaging in this sort of idiotic behaviour," Mr Rau said. The changes also will make it illegal to interfere with an impounded vehicle or engage in hoon driving on private land. Police have the power to clamp or impound cars when the drivers commit offences including street racing or burnouts. Cars can also be seized if a driver causes serious harm or death. Under the new laws, police will be able to go onto private property without a warrant to seize, clamp or impound a vehicle. Impounded cars are typically held on police lots and clamped vehicles are kept at the home address of the hoon driver. More than 11,000 cars have been clamped or impounded since anti-hoon laws were introduced in 2005. Parliament last week passed new laws that will put street racers in jail for up to three years. A second offence will attract a maximum penalty of five years jail and a minimum loss of licence for three years. An offender causing death or serious harm street racing would now face a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Aah, that's a little differnt to the article linked on page 1.
Oh well, I'm glad I'm not in VIC... New slogan on number plates "Victoria....the police state" Thinking of it though, I would be semi correct with my "theory" with nanna calling the cops. It would have to be a reported incident, they aren't gonna just start rocking up to houses and confiscating cars..... I would like to see a big book....full of photos of these "hoon cars" that have been impounded/crushed... Over 5000 cars....Would be interesting to see what "hoon cars" look like....

This is sh*t!! I learnt to drive in a paddock when I was 6, and I've been hooning around them ever since. That's currently the only place I can actually drive my Fairmont!! That sucks, hopefully it doesn't happen in NSW.
