I dunno what they're trying to get at with the GS.
It's a few grand shy of a GT, a few kW shy as well (and as mentioned is physically the same, so a ECU tune/swap will get it back - you could probably convince your dealer to load up a GT tune). FPV don't need more models. They need.... GT GT-P (maybe, if not options should be available on the GT to spec it up the same) GT E F6 F6 E Super Pursuit. F6 Ute (again with options to spec it to SP level) Numbers show ~95% of V8 ute sales are Super Pursuits. So Pursuit can go. GT-P initially (BA 1 and 2) outsold GT, but now it's down to ~15% of V8 sedan sales. Note FPV have also diluted the difference between GT and GT-P in BA2, and BF, so there extra value isn't there (except for the seats, everything else is an option on a GT) V8 still account for more than half of FPV's sales (~60%). So where is GS going to fit in? It's not cheap enough so pony up the extra $5K and get a GT. Or save yourself $5K and get an XR8. I think it's good value over an XR8. e.g. a buyer after an XR8 may be able to pony up the extra moola, but couldn't stretch to a GT. In short another FPV sticker pack 'special edition' that offers no value.

I like the green color they show: http://www.fpv.com.au/news/press-releases/document.aspx?ID=3302 I wouldn't say no.

That color, aswell as the Mustard, Tomato sauce, Orange Whip and Vodka and Blue Curacao colors on current Fords and Holdens will date badly when they go out of style.
If they were ever in style in the first place. And what is with the pretty stickers lately. I thought Ford go over that s**t years ago in the pursuit of class?? |

I'm with you on the stickers, Kit.
The bulge sticker and the 'raccoon eyes' look on the front bar is awful. Ditch the the top half and the GS stickers from the side.... and I reckon the GS is a winner. Top Gear mag listed them at $54k.... Not bad for a mid-ranger. I'd take one for sure... $12k less than a GT |

I owned a GS back in the day.. XB in my case...
Those bonnets like BenJ has grafted into his boxcar's bonnet are GS.... they were pretty well known in their day.... Grand sports I think it means. (ironically GT stood for Grand Tourer from memory) If holdens experiences have taught us anything, it's that you can't just pull out a prestigious name from the 70's, slap it on a new car and expect tons of sales... the car has to follow the tradition as well as the name..... at least they put the name to a decently worked beast. |

I read an article in TGA about them and being about $12,000 cheaper than a GT but pretty much having all the GT performance and handling is a great selling point. I would think that these would sell well.

I would think that these would sell well. But regular XR brakes. I wouldn't want to take a GS onto a track without the even the 4-1 Brembo upgrade (and all of a sudden it's not much cheaper than a GT - guessing but the upgrade is probably going to be 4-$5,000 option). Having been on a recent track day*, even the 4-1 setup on the GT's doesn't hold up well on the track. Having done lots of track days with other FPV owners, you notice they're mostly GT-P's (i.e. the 6-4 Brembos), *On Monday I was at Oran Park, 16 cars in total, Porsche GT2, R34 GTR VSpec2 Nur, MX5, VW Polo GTI (full track car, cage, striped the works), VZ Clubbie R8, 2x FG F6's, FG F6 Ute, FG GT E, 2x FG GT-P's, 3x BF GT-P's, FG GT, BF XR8 Ute.
