this is just confirmation of something that came up in a discussion at work today. after the usual tooing and froing about the recent events i wondered what non hrt/hdt holdens had won the championship. i couldn't think of any so i looked it up. there's a good reason why i couldn't think of any. there isn't any. also skaife and lowndes the only drivers to win in a v8 holden of the modern era. considering lowndes now drives a ford (he's always been a ford man) it doesn't say much for the rest of the holden teams. they have just been making up the numbers for quite some time now it seems. even the woeful au facon regularly finished ahead of the non hrt cars.

never heard of this before, ha ha ha. hrt prob pay all the other holden teams to let them by so they look good. just like they seem to bribe there way through every thing else. no wonder holden drivers r slowly cuming over to ford.

the last holden driver to win the ATCC not driving a factory built or prepared car was Mark Skaife in 1994 driving the Winfield VP Dunny door for Gibson Motor Sport

It's actually written into the teams sponsorship agreement between Holden and all teams. All reasonable attempts should be made, not to hamper the efforts of the leading teams and driver yadda yadda. In other words it is expected that a fellow Holden driver will assist where possible, the front runners at the time (if that makes any sense). So if your a back marker and your about to be lapped at Bathurst by another Holden in a strong position, you will allow them to pass easily while hampering the efforts of their rivals (within the rules). I have a friend who used to pit for one of the lower placed Holden teams and he assured me this was the case. And I could only assume the Ford do not have similar stipulations in their teams agreements because they seam to do whats best for themselves and their team at the time (and isnt that what racing really is?).

Just look at bathurst a few years ago, HRT's main car is in the lead and we have a FORD turning in 1 to 2 seconds a lap faster may off even been more. 10 laps to go and it looked like the Ford wa going to chatch and over take the red s**t box but wait for it hers Paul Morris pulling out of the pits right in front off the ford and slowing it down, then he goes back in to the pits and waits until the ford is just about to finish another lap and pulls out in front of it again hence HRT wins bathurst only just though and ford second
