Seven today confirmed the signing of Neil Crompton, widely acknowledged as the leading motorsport specialist commentator in Australia, as Seven roars back into V8 Supercars in 2007.
Crompton will join Matthew White, Grant Denyer, Mark Beretta and Daniel Gibson as Seven delivers the most extensive coverage yet undertaken of V8 Supercars in Australia - under the direction of executive producer, Murray Lomax, responsible for V8 Supercar television coverage over the past decade, and the team at Seven which has delivered many of the great moments in sports including Olympic Games, the Australian Open, the Australian Football League, the Melbourne Cup and the Rugby World Cup, The partnership between Seven and V8 Supercars Australia secures broadcast television rights for 2007-2012 and will see a series of significant developments that will expand live television coverage of Australia’s fastest growing sport across Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Seven today unveiled plans for the most hours of coverage of V8 Supercars in their history – up by more than 60 per cent on 2006. Seven’s V8 Supercar coverage will be live and for the first time, V8 Supercars will have its own regular television programme. Seven will also commit to coverage of a number of the major support categories in V8 Supercars and will release details in the coming weeks. Crompton said: “I’m very enthusiastic about being given this opportunity to join the Seven motorsport team. After racing and broadcasting within the V8 Supercar community for more than twenty years, the V8 paddock is my home and with Seven’s deep commitment to V8 Supercars, there was a natural fit. “I have a deep passion for the sport. I love sharing the V8 Supercar story. I know the people and the cars and along the way, I’ll be reunited with some old mates in Matty, Mark and Grant. “Both in racing and broadcasting, I have been really fortunate to work with some very clever and talented teams. The equipment and the people being assembled by Seven makes me very confident that fellow fans will love the coverage in this new era for V8 Supercar racing.†Announcing Crompton’s signing, Seven’s Head of Sport, Saul Shtein, said: “We are delighted to welcome Neil back to Seven. He is recognised as one of the great analysts in motor racing and his skills and racing experience will add further depth to our team. “With Neil, Matt, Grant and Daniel we are bringing experience, expertise and passion into our coverage along with production teams internationally recognised for their leadership in sports television and some new ideas that will add a new dimension to our coverage. “We are dedicating extraordinary resources to our coverage, building on our deep and rich connection with the sport. We are also delivering the most significant coverage of V8 Supercars in its history: more hours, more live coverage, and the launch of V8 Supercars’ own television programme, and we’ll be promoting the drivers and the sports across our television programmes, online and in our magazines. Wherever you go on Seven, V8 Supercars will be there.†Seven created many firsts in the coverage of motor sports - from the first live coverage from a helicopter, Peter Williamson’s wild ride and even more colourful commentary with our first in-car camera, the developments in camera technology which saw cameras in headlights, underneath cars, and rotating, tilting and panning through 360°. From 2007 and beyond, you will see Seven build on this commitment to innovation with new developments in television production and technology. Commenting, Shtein said: “We acknowledge that we have been entrusted with the television coverage of a great and growing sport. “We have brought together arguably the best team going around. Bring together the best sports television production team in the business, the best commentators in motorsports and a dramatic increase in the number of hours of coverage of V8 Supercars and you have in a nutshell, Seven’s commitment to one great sport. We can’t wait.†|

Get a bigger aerial LOL. Would be great if Foxtel added 7 and 10 to their satellite broadcast, they only have SBS, ABC and channel 9. It should be good, they're going to have a show just for the V8's, aswell as more live coverage. |

In that case why not get a digital set top box?
They're cheap as chips now. The clarity is awesome compared to the analogue signal. |
