I thought you meant sales LOL
I was gonna say ED-EF-EL were failures too!
VR-VS-VT stomped them sales wise.

pretty sure you are wrong. holden never hit the front in the sales race until vt. before that it was all ford for a long time.

the funny thing about that article also is it seems to infer that hoden and toyota are fine as they export cars. GM are that close to bankruptcy its not funny.

I was partially wrong. EF outsold Commodore, ED and EL didn't.
'93 EBII outsold Commo, but with release of VR against the 'old shape' ED, the VR outsold in 94.
EF outsold in 95.
96 on it's been Commodore, didn't help that again old shape EL was competing against new shape VT.
And then the good old AU was released.

i feel sorry for people who believe that nonsence, truthfully ford aus is in a much better financial position than is reported due to sales for the focus, fiesta and mondeo.

With focus being made here i believe they will discontinue the territory but keep falcon assembly here but built from imported parts. We already know the engine is coming from the US.

It would take a lot to kill the falcon for a few reasons
1. V8 motorsport would collapse
2. Aussie Icon
3. Can still export falcon if need be.

Yes i know report says markets are already flooded but wheels took a falcon V8 to europe and 9 / 10 people interviewed said they would buy one and were asking why cars like it weren't already sold

you must think that ford australia runs the ford empire....they dont, orders come from the US, they will not take sales away from products that they already produce...this means the falcon will not be exported...

how many aussie icons do we need? we have holden..

motorsport...who gives a toss....ford in the past has dropped completely out of it....

its about money....someone has to loose eventually

Don't you mean GM? Holden is like covering a turd in hundreds and thousands, underneath it is still s**t, Holden hasn't been a real icon since GM purchased them in 1931, just some tosser bogans think that it is still Australia.

So if anything the Falcon is more of an Aussie icon considering it has more Australian designed and built parts in it, but I wouldn't want either GM or Ford to stop producing cars here, don't care about Toyota as they only build a global car anyway, so it is likely we will loose them anyway.

100% agree...except for the toyota part, theyve been building cars in australia for a long time now and are just as deserving as GM or Ford...maybe even more considering that they do produce a product that people actually want and employ thousands of aussies

Well I sure as hell don't want a car that is just off full size but marketed as full size and front wheel drive.

Toyota does not build anything different here to many of its other factories, so we will eventually loose it anyway due to being cheaper to build elsewhere. As long was we have to swallow what they want to sell here we are basically digging our own grave.

I don't think ford Aus runs the ford empire but it is a cheaper option to export falcons than come up with and design a new car for european markets. Do you think its a coincidence ford are now moving towards euro stylings.

As for motorsport ford dropped out but kept making v8's, The rules stipulate that in order to be eligable manufacturers have to have a locally made v8 and i think the multi-million dollar motorsport industry would care as would i and many others if it were to be shutdown.

the falcon is euro styled because thats what people are/was buying,

and v8 supercars rules are taylor made to suit falcons and commies if the falcon dies they will change the rules and allow toyotas and other breads to join, like touring cars of old

Ford US don't want to export the falcon cause no one will want to buy what they already make. They are only enforcing this export ban to cover their own a*** from a sales slump.
