What car do they produce in Falcon size and rear wheel drive?

Guys - I am totally spewing already that they gave up making a bloody station wagon. HOLDEN do (although I just love planting hoof next to them in their 2008 "Sports Wagons" and wincing as the drivers try to find excuses to tell the missus...!)
I have an EF wagon. I handles good with its low, stiff springs up front, its 1 tonne springs with sway bar in back and the 330mm slotted and dimpled front disks have never warped and stop pretty good. Why is Ford not producing wagons? You need to buy a two door and put a canopy on the back or you need to by a bloody $60000 territory. I'd by a damn BMW X5 rather than a territory just because I am annoyed at Ford pulling the upgrade path out from under neath me. Don't know about Aussie, but there are bloody heaps of EF - AU station wagons in NZ. And we all know how bad the handling got in the AU wagons. Sheeeez. Maybe it's because (and I'm hoping to find some good reason here, honestly) that FORD owns VOLVO and they got fed up with the Falcon series stopping any sales of VOLVO wagons? Combine that with all the other imports that Ford either own outright or a decent chunk of and you see their other marquees fail compared to international averages. Or maybe they do produce a stationwagon that handles well in the F6 range but have just failed to notify me? Sad sad sad. Every company rep with product to show and delivery was driving an AU at one point. Now their all in Commonwhores and wierd s**t Euro cars that look like beetles, grasshoppers or the dung produced by wilderbeast. Whomever came up with the idea of selling large 4WD to school Mums was short sighted and ultimately has cost Ford billions now they can't give them away all the costs and production facilities and ... well ... I ain't no economist, but if I owned a company which lost 8 billion in one year I'd be chewing my nails raw and putting out a five door ute variation aimed at the small builder and company representatives real quick. I would even call this new innovation of combining UTE with passenger car a "SPORTS WAGON" and sell heaps. Particularly if I actually advertised the bench front seat and optional childrens seats in the boot. That is an 8 seater car. Developmental wise it's easy. Take a F6 ute and weld a sub frame to the back, bolt on some doors from a four door sedan and start entering them into the V8 UTE racing series. Which leads me to a whole new gripe. Where's the V8 WAGON RACING SERIES? Could we new sports wagon drivers enter in the ute series please? That would show even more people that the wagons are practical cars and trades vehicles. and then we might even sell a few more of them. Did you notice (before V8 "Supercars" took over and banned anything quicker then them with 4, 6 or 12 cylinders) that a square looking Volvo Stationwagon won the NISSAN MOBIL 500 against the likes of Peter Brock and some pretty fast looking Ford, Holden, BMW and Nissans? The car only arrived in the country two days before the race start and had to start from the back of the grid. They had no track testing and were trying to adjust the setup at the first pit stop!!! They had the straight line speed over the 8's and the cornering of the BMW's. Bring back the biff. Bring back the passion. Bring back the wagon. |

God dam now that is one good post fiend, you are so right about the "V8 Supercars" how that competition has killed the variety of cars out on the track & if FORD was to stick to traditional value's along with FPV we would see BA-BF XR8 wagons & FPV wagons, if I ever were to get my grandfathers AU 3 wagon I would pull the motor out of it do a VCT upgrade & stick it in the MRS EF & get a AU pursuit V8 & drop it in the Wagon.

I suppose the end had to come.
For some reason, even with a great product in the FG, Ford sold almost 1000 less cars in August, than it did in July. There going downhill, not up. They were 3rd, with Mazda in 4th barely 100 cars away from knocking us to 4th place. Makes you cringe just looking at the figures every month. All this effort with little reward and return. |

Cause people are overlooking the ford in preference of a second hand SUV or any other vehicles with more options than out falcons for the same dollars. Not many people are actually looking to buy an FG out there. Sure people say they do but one day walking the car yards of Parramatta Rd is enough to sway personal opinion away from the average Aussie passenger car.
The territory has been the biggest joke since the AU (according to most people the AU was supposedly a joke. And the most reliable one ever to roll out of geelong for that matter). It has zero practicality. Is thirstier than an F350 super duty, can only tow 1/10th of the weight and has zero off road credibility. I know what I'd rather spend my hard earned dollars on . Also why do Ford have 2 similar vehicles in that market? The territory and the Escape. Before some bright spark points out the obvious differences have you actually seen them side by side? They are not all that dissimilar, in fact I'd take the escape every time. |

It's nice to just step sideways from a car, rather than climbing up and down out of say, a BA/BF XR6. They are low to the ground. Even I would be tempted by a Territory Ghia for that reason. I wonder how many others buy them for that reason alone. |

Yeah I consider the Territory as the big mans Falcon. . Which brings me back to -- WHY THE HELL DON'T THEY DITCH THE CRAP TERRITORY (not selling well here either) AND MAKE A BLOODY STATION WAGON? Seriously - I went in to see the new Falcons specifically and when I asked about a wagon they politely moved me away from the F series enclosure with its free coffee's and leggy smiles and on to the middle age Mum with valium and temper issues who was flogging Territory's. Once again --- At $60,000NZ and with less tow, less boot, less handling and less credability - I ain't wanting one. No mater how nice they are, I drive on highways, and occasionally go fast... I want a low wagon. Especially if it was an F6 or what ever they bloody call them now. Stuff it. Will just buy a house with a big garage and purchase all the EF bodies I can find and save up some nice motors and keep my EF wagon until I'm damn near 70. I would go buy Holden, but they're s**t. Hyaundais are making quite nice cars actually. That's it. Jump ship while we're ahead. Has anyone bought www.hyaundaimods.com yet? |

Even I would be tempted by a Territory Ghia for that reason. I wonder how many others buy them for that reason alone. Low is a VX wagon with sagging FE2 springs that have done around half a million kms. Its around 6" lower than an XR6 falcon. You only think your territory is a mans falcon when you sit in the front two seats. You sit anywhere else in that car and it falcon, it aint. When they first came out people were like "ooooh aaaaahh" because they thought it was the perfect soft roader. Built rugged like a falcon with the raised driving position of an SUV. Funny thing is a car like that already exists. The Escape. The only major difference between the two is the choice of power plant. To be honest most of us thought the territory and wagon were going to coexist. Not one phasing out the other. I personally think a BFIII wagon would make a wise investment. |

the funny thing is that when my boss was getting a terrority ford said to him that there would never be a turbo and or v8 model,, i think as soon as they a saw nizpro make that turbo terrority they went hmmm. if the BA to BF wagon range were a turbo or v8 application people would of taken notice.
Ford should bring out more novelty cars (as in rare or random combos) and reinvent the old saying, race on sunday sell on monday. they should piss of the GT name, cause they aren't a rare car really like every model from the BA, BAII, BF, BFII, FG has a GT badge and almost as collectable as a forte. Ford should sell "upmarket" cars for pov model prices or close to pov prices, heck even if they get 300 bog stock XR8s revamp the wheels and interior and tweak the power a tad and market it as a "sprint" , "gs" or even invamp old school falcon names. if small cars are the new market hell get a focus body or chassis convert to real wheel drive and have a choice of the I6 or 4cyl and name it a cortina and then they would of room to improve like a new cortina gt with a xr6t motor or something. IMO i reakon as soon as darren and his mates bring out the V8 terrority in the public spot light ford will go okay 12months later v8 terrority. And there isn't 2 forms of the terrority there is 3 if you count the explorer (or the artist formally known as exploder lol)

Well it looks like the Territory has had its life extended!
{DESCRIPTION} {USERNAME} wrote: A production plan for the first major remake of Australia's only homegrown SUV is now locked in place ahead of a changeover early in 2009.
It comes as Ford continues to downsize its workforce, not just on the production line that produces the Territory and Falcon but also in white-collar jobs at both Broadmeadows and its manufacturing base at Geelong. The Territory plan shows an ongoing commitment to the car, even if it is not yet included in the V6 engine changeover set for the Falcon in 2010.

OMG - If you took a Mondeo (Euro style) or Holden Astra (EurO) and stretched them sideways a bit, you'd have the new Falcon and Commodore respectively. Stretch the Falcons top up and make the whole front end a little disproportionate and you have the "all new" territory.
Honestly - I am not only upset at Falcon missing its wagon (especially a turbo model, just like the bloody UTE thanks.!. I'll buy two...) but now am finding it hard to spot the difference between Fords and a number of Japlastics fantastic SUV's... When will it ever stop? Oh... I think we all know... When the "Falcon" is produced in Korea and has a re-hashed V3000 motor... Admittedly some clever Asain will invent a way of turning off a few cylinders at the lights to preserve petrol and then some other clever Asian will work out that rather than using specific Falcon body panels they could use these ones marked "Hyundai" or "Kia" and just bog over the part number. Then they could remove one of the doors, ship it to DownUnder where it could be finished with labels "ASSEMBLED PROUDLY IN AUSTRALIA" It's already happened to JAGUAR and a whole heap of other great cars that Ford unfortunately saved from the scrap heap due to Englands political screw ups of the 80's... Ford still owns Volvo, right? How about at least putting Falcon body panels on one of those things? They get up and go alright... And - Yuck... I don't like the new Commodore SV6's much either. What motor have they actually got in them? Oh - s**t. I have it all wrong. THE NEW FALCON IS THE MAZDA 6. It's true - And remember you read it here first. |
