as the topic says does russell ingall take the number 2 plate from skaife pushing him further back into the bottom of the pack or will he stay with number 9 or 98. because it would be wickid to see both of those cars together on the front row of the grid car 1 and 2 both sbr boys. 8-)

Ingals sponsor is Caltex and they've just released the new Vortex 98 (previously it was 95), so I reckon his number will stay 98 for this, even if he had the option, I reckon the sponsors would want him to keep 98.

That wouldn't be right because before Ambrose got no 1 he hadn't won the previous year!

I would think Ingal can take the number 2 and and display it with the 98 if he wants. He took out second in the champoinship, he is by all rights second.

Yeah but 98 belongs to someone else (in the development series) and he just borrowed it from them for one round to help launch the new fuel on the market. Anyway I think the first 3 in the champ should have the option of displaying 1,2 and 3 the following year.

Ambrose was no 1 in 04, because he won the championship in 03. The year before he was number 4, and skaife was no 1, because he won the year before that.

The only number that changes according to previous years positoin is the number 1

The only number that can move with the championship is #1. HRT have the rights to #2 and it will not be moved.

REGARDLESS of who gets what position in the championship the ONLY number that will move to the DRIVER (no, not the team) is the #1.

If Ambrose went to drive for Holden in 2005 he would take #1 with him (at least til the first round where he would be shot no doubt  )
