there reducing 10kw for the ss, and 5kw for the v6.. in order to improve fuel efficiency.. wonder if ford would consider going down the same road

ford have produced more pwr while mantaining a reasonable economy for years now.
a lot of people think its to do with the gearing and the fact an i6 wont rev its head off.

An engine that is running more efficient should produce both more power and have better fuel economy.
In the case of the Holden isn't that just a side effect of the cylinder deactivation technology. It's not like it's the same engine and management system tuned to be 10kw less. My point being that it is the new management system technology that is making the fuel saving with the power decrease being a side effect. |

well for one, a different cam would be required for some reason i can see this move as a good move in the eyes of consumers, but at the same time, if it were ford that done it, i could swear it will be there down fall.. holden and toyota could sell s**t, and people would buy it these days

I dont think an I6 would run nice on half cylinders. They run beautifully on 6 as they are naturally balanced.
V6 is crap as they are not balanced and require balance shafts.

V6 is crap as they are not balanced and require balance shafts. they are not running on half cylinders they cylinders are shut down in a specific sequence over time i think u will find it be like 2 cylinders will not fire at a time... the siully thing is ford has the tech to do it they do it in the AU falcons if it overheats
