For those of you in states who observe daylight saving, you will need to update the timezone in your profile to reflect the change.

For example, those on the east coast who are normally in GMT+10 will need to change to GMT+11 to ensure the correct time is displayed on their profile.

Bring on summer!

I love when the phone companies don't automatically update the time and your alarm is late. Happened to me last year, but this year, it happened to about 50% of the people who work at the shopping centre down the road.

It irritates me. Why not have it during winter if we want more light during the evening. As it is it doesn't get dark till 9pm during summer but its dark four hours earlier in winter! wtf!

Yeah they should just leave it daylight saving time all the time, I don't mind getting up in the dark in the winter, s**t most of winter this year I got up in the dark and got home in the dark.

I checked and found out why I can never remember anything other than daylight savings.
Quote:
History of Daylight Saving in NSW
Daylight saving operated nationally during World War I from 1 January 1917 to 25 March 1917 and during World War II for three summers, beginning on 1 January 1942.

Daylight saving was introduced again in this State on 31 October 1971 after the Standard Time Act 1971 was passed by the New South Wales Parliament.

A referendum held on 1 May 1976 submitted a proposal that daylight saving be adopted on a permanent basis. The ballot paper stated:

At present there is a period commonly called "daylight saving" by which time is advanced by one hour for the period commencing on the last Sunday in October in each year and ending on the first Sunday in March in the following year.

Electors were then asked to answer YES or NO to the question:

Are you in favour of daylight saving?

1,882,770 electors were in favour; 868,900 were against and 35,507 votes were informal. This is a ratio of 13:6 in favour.

I don't know why you WA members complain so much about daylight savings, it would be similar to when I last lived in Rockhampton, without aircon there is no way you could sleep anywhere near 7am in the morning, it would have been better to get up earlier to go to work when it was cooler and have more hours after work to do things at home.

because Macca we are right over on the far sie of our time zone, after work 5pm - we get plenty hours of day light anyway.

Mosty f**k say it is too hot to go outside and end up being fat bastards playing xbox in their air conditioning lol

if day light savings worked, ie you believe the hype about family's spending more time outside, then the rate of exercise would go up and obesity would go down during summer - it doesn't!

I agree, if you want to get more afternoon daylight hours, then in the middle of winter would be a better idea!!

personally i dont care if its here or not. i adjust my clock and set my alarm to wake me up. i dont really care if its dark or light when i got to work. i dont get home till 7 usually and have to cook dinner and general housework too. makes no difference to me either way. if i want some daylight hours to do something outside i simply manage my time around it, rather than cry theres no daylight when i want it. why did daylight savings start in the first place? if you want daylight then get up earlier ya slack bastards.....lol

for one the days are the same length every day is 24hrs regardless of winter or summer
what you are referring to is the amount of time the sun is up for allowing for more "daylight" hours than "night time" hrs in the summer
reverse for winter

dude u said that there is more light,in a thread about daylight savings
incorrect

there is the same amount of light and time, it is the clock has been shifted
thats all
