I was just saying that it's obviously aimed more at fleets/drawing new customers to ford.
It's not aimed at die hard ford fans because we already have bigger, better falcons :)

Anything that keeps ford afloat is a plus, tbh.
That being said, I will never drive or own, if I can avoid it an FWD car. a 4cyl is also on the avoid list as far as I'm concerned.

If this keeps ford floating so they can also turn out performance vehicles, then it's a good thing. I hope they market it well.

Would I be in the market for any of their offerings in the short term? No, but being a car company isn't just about selling new car's, it's about making your "near new" car's desirable in the second hand market, so when the upgrade cycle starts, those with the near new car's sell them & buy more new Fords.

Nobody that matters will buy a new falcon if they can't sell it in 2 years time for reasonable money so they can upgrade to the new model. Would I be in the market for a newer falcon in a couple of years time? For a daily drive, that's quite likely. If I get this business idea I'm looking at off the ground, it might even be a brand new falcon.

If the Ecoboost 4cyl doesn't suffer too badly from head issues, I can see it becoming a new cult engine!

Cheers

ToranaGuy

no mate, I was just agreeing with troy ,it would be in a lot of people's interest if they could buy a new V8 powered Ford tho. as for me I'm old school and like the old style cars ,the 302W is my engine of choice. I wouldn't even consider buying New when there's better old stock suited to my likings. I do have a Bathurst family history tho ,V8 is in the blood

When you put a cost on what it takes to get a 302w to get anuwhere near an unopened but tuned coyote you'll switch allegiances pretty quick.

As for the 4cyl. Believe it or not but Im a bit p****d that it is not available for the ute. Only time will tell if I.have the right to be or not be p****d on that lack of option.

can company fleet buyers claim carbon credits on this then as its the lowest emissions car? i can see the idea in getting a smaller engine in a car that still has leg room. mazda 6 is the biggest selling car in australia. its got an economical motor, but yet isnt the size of a matchbox. possibly in years to come the 4 cyl will become the stock xt, and the 6 cylinder will be the optional upgrade. although this is clearly aimed at the family car/green dollar, what performance will be on offer for cashed up purchasers and hoons? hopefully some of the better powered cars are still produced, as not everyone will be able to afford a fpv.

An FPV GS ute isn't that much more than an XT. Got to remember the XT is now a 40k car. That's faimont dollars in the old money. GS in in the mid 50's. As a young male without a familly I know what I'd have in a heart beat if I had a steady source of income.

When I see an iron block and heads 302 windsor make 600rwkW and idle like a stocker then I'll be a fan but thats the challenge for now as that's what tuned but unopened coyotes are making.

Its not that hard to get a windsor to make 450fwhp. You could almost do it with an exploter/cobra intake and gt40p heads.
