Ok, the image issue has been resolved, I think.

I'm re-thinking what links will be at the top of the page, so hang in there.

Waggin, thankyou.

This is a suitable compromise for existing threads, that is acceptable given the change in the site, and the other benefits the changes have and will bring.

I was not looking forward to resizing, uploading and deleting several hundred pics, in current or previous threads. Future photos will be resized appropriately to fit within the bounds of the forum, that being 720px wide, although I do still believe that a minimum of 800 x 600px should be accomodated as part of the site design, given that it is a accepted standard image size.

As for my sig, I will be editing it to fall within the dimensions required, although it was well within the size limit.

Cheers
BenJ

How does everyone cope on just about every other website out there that has a white background?

LOL. I wonder the same. Did they also complain to Microsoft about the entire office suite damn Word and Excell, not to mention notepad, word pad, paint etc? I think some serious letters need to go to the head of Google, Facebook and Yahoo. *shrug* :)

The microsoft programs are irrelevant you can change collours in them, and as for Facebook, Google, Yahoo ECT just because thay have white does not mean Fordmods need to follow suit like a sheep.

And another thing about those websites, they use more of the screen than Fordmods are.

Just saying is all, its not realy a good argument.

What is the issue with having the blue anyway?
I mean it worked for how many years without complaints?
Its just a blue background how about a compromize?
make all the unused space left and right of the forum blue and leave the rest white?

Atleast then there are no future complaints of what you suggested, its to hard to read white over blue.

Give it a thought there is too much white, you know it!

Cheers

For the tenth time --- Could I please have a TABLE DATA BACKGROUND colour change on threads I have started? That way I could simply do a colour like 13619F this is 13619F ( this is 13619F *** it is a blue similar to the original FORDMODS. )

That way I could at least keep myself happy.

Black on white is not easy to read long term on a computer screen. At least, not for me. When using a program such as OPEN OFFICE WRITER I actually change the background colour down a few notches.

For FordMods I would suggest 709FC1 ( this is 709FC1*** it is a blue about halfway between FFFFFF (white) and the original FORDMODS message background. ) The thing I like about colours such as this in the background is that they show both dark and light text and therefore become a lot more usable.

As I said, I produced s**t that looked almost identical to this in the mid to late 90's. It was pretty original at the time (everyone else used silly fill patterns and big bold type etc etc...) and was well before the likes of Apple and Microsoft started their plain white things. Have a look at the latest offerings from the likes of Apple and Microsoft --- You will not see a plain white background anywhere unless it's when you start a new document...

I'm not blindly following their design, however for the same reason as them I have chosen a white background as it is clean and easy to read. I'm still curious to know if you complain to these other websites daily?!

Wrong, measure the width of facebook

What's the issue with having white? Adjust your monitor, and get over it.

{USERNAME} wrote:

Exactly, time for change.

{USERNAME} wrote:

No, no more blue backrounds. The site uses blue highlights - they wouldn't be visible on a blue background.

This is your opinion, obviously we disagree here. Have you adjusted your monitor's brightness? A few people have complained and then later confessed that they adjusted their monitor to find that it's actually much easier to read than previously.

I think it's time to accept that its changed! The more time I have to reply to the same petty questions about the background colour, the less time I have to do constructive things for the site.

For the 11th time, no.

What makes you so special that you deserve your own damn background colour? Why should my development time for Fordmods be wasted on fulfilling your unique requirements? I think the other 30,000 users of Fordmods would prefer me spending my time on doing things that benefit everyone.

Congrats - have you taken out a patent on white backgrounds? You could make alot of money seeing how many sites use white nowdays.

Fordmods isn't a desktop application, it's a website! A website that has a white background, not unlike MANY of the leading websites. Deal with it.

something id like to see is changes to the for sale thread, these being
- threads deleted after 3 months of inactivity
- the seller being able to delete posts which are not in the best interst and/or not related to the sale, as some threads get clogged with rubbish
- maybe some sort of feedback system for sellers, similar to ebay.
only because ive successfully run 3 group buys and have sold over 50 items on here, and im at the same level as the person who sold 30 odd air intake tubes, and took 1 one year to deliver a product which was different to what he advertised, lots of people wanted him tracked down and torched.

i know it doesnt stop scams, but it gives the buyer some confidence knowing that people have successfully dealt with this person before...
