Whaddaya mean it's not working? Since FM3.0 was released the only way I was able to find my build thread was by searching for it! Since then I have re-watched or subscribed to it again...

Anyone know why the 'New Posts' count doesn't reset every time you come back to the site??

Mine just keeps going up and up and up every time I come back.. It's a little annoying 'cos that's how I check new stuff.....

Anyone??

The old site used to reset even without logging out all the time..... just by closing your browser....

Any chance of that being the case with this new fangled V.03??

That would be cool!

I've only had a brief look so far.

Stylistically it seems about 15 years behind the old one, i much prefer looking at the old one. I like the blue background, and i don't like the white, but there is so much more to the old one than just the nice blue background. Books etc use black on white because they are not back lit and because the ink cost would be astronomical. Another problem, when i open the topic pages in new tabs, the tabs all read the same, so i can't tell what is what.

Things i like about the new one is that entry to the meat is faster, and opening new pages seems faster. I did notice the old one being slow in that regard.

Can we have the little last post marker by the name of the last poster (very right column) - when viewing New Posts? Once you have clicked on the the latest post icon (on the left) you can't actually get back to the last one unless you click the last page and scroll down.

While you're at it, any chance of installing the mod for Today's Posts in tandem with New Posts? Sometimes it's nice to see what has been posted in the last day in total, especially when New Posts suddenly ones shows one or two....

Cheers
RD

Yep - my old eyes don't mind the black on white - could be wider but will try to work out how to get 2 pages on one screen (which would be good too).
Sometimes it is handy to be able to print posts - I always used to end up with wasted ink because of blue background.
Is it possible for 'printer friendly' selection?

Richie

Well,

After just getting back on the Fordmods forum after no net access since Thursday, I was greeted with the new Fordmods.

While I really liked the Blue design of the previous version, I can 'live' with the new colour design. Although as previously mentioned, it is much harder to easily spot which forum I am browsing now, as they all look alike, especially with multiple tabs/windows opened.

It is dissapointing that the forum does not automatically expand to full screen width. All of the pictures in my build thread are now cut off, along with any text on that page. All of my pictures are linked externally to photobucket, and all of the photos are at 1024 x 768 resolution, which apparently no longer fit. While for some, this size of picture caused some distress, I will note that in the 23 pages of my build thread, there is not one post requesting or complaining about the size of the pictures.

This is 2009, not 1999, and to restrict the layout like this is a large step backwards. Not even an 800 x 600 image will fit. That is ridiculous.

I will have to give some consideration as to whether I fix all of the photos I have uploaded, which are linked to from multiple sites, or just leave it as it is.

Overall, the speed never bothered me as I have a cable connection, so for this user, the enhancements to speed the site up, at the expense of other layout functionality, is of no benefit.

I will persevere for now, and will reserve overall judgement.

Not so Cheery
BenJ
