Yattala, Queensland: Monday 31st October 2005; In a major coup, leading touring V8 Supercar team Stone Brothers Racing (SBR), today announced the signing of one of the world’s most exciting young racing car drivers, James Courtney to their team and the V8 Supercar Championship Series in 2006. The announcement that Courtney has teamed up with SBR is coupled with news that the team has also secured a co-naming rights sponsor in JELD-WEN, inc; replacing the long and highly successful partnership with Pirtek, and joining Ford and Caltex as the major sponsors of the two-car operation. The precociously talented James Courtney, 25, has turned his back on a lucrative racing career in Japan to return to Australia and replace current V8 Supercar Champion Marcos Ambrose in the Ford Falcon of Stone Brothers Racing. I hope all this will be a positive move for SBR, a little amazed at their sponsor though considering it has nothing to do with motorsport at all. (I for one have heard of JELD-WEN before today). And I hope this James doesn't let the team down - another suprise on SBR account again...

Well SBR showed they know a good driver when they see one. Look at marcos, european racing background, succesful in open wheelers, and james has the same credibility, though he has gone further with his open wheeler racing. Will be good to see his progress over the next year to see if he can better what marcos did in his first year.

So any photoshops or anything booting around of what the new car will look like with this Jeld-WIN logos and crap all over it?
Ford seem to be doing a top job of stealing the good drivers from Holden lol, Lowdnes, Ingall, Bright, Courtney (he was in the HRT car). |

yeah they showed the car on sports tonight today. it had an absolutely disgusting paint job that appeared to be very similar to the pirtek one with jeld-win tacked all over it and some ghastly yellow spears down either side of the bonnet and qtr panels.
found the news very dissapointing about both their unheard of driver, their strange choice in sponsor (surely the leading team could do beter than this). And for good measure, they threwin a bit of Ambrose doing his usuall arrogant speel about how the team is going to go down after he's gone...

Unknown driver? s**t the blokes got some great achievements, F1 Jag test driver and what not! Not to mention V8 supercars this year in HRT! Only comments I've heard from Ambrose is he said courtney has the pontial to be better than him, and he's got everything he needs to do it - great team and great car. |
