Pretty much it I guess, because the high series bonnet looks so different to the EF stocky, I would like a bonnet with a fair bit more clearance than a standard high series, so I will wait and see, I bet it will still look the goods but it might not suit my needs.

what i found on my XR is that underneath, it had more clearance from the engine.

i had a 3" intake pipe that because of the pegs on the intake manifold, it was JUST hitting my standard bonnet.

there was enough room with this new bonnet that it wasn't an issue

hi all, havent been posting much latley, i started a new job about 6 weeks ago and it has been taking up all of my time

but anyway i got this from adam tonight so i thaught i would pass it on
and there is still room for more people too jump aboard if anyone else is interested.

quote-
hi guys sorry for the lack of response have been flat out

in answer to your questions -

the way i am doing the fairmont bonnet now it will look exactly the same as the fairmont bonnet but with a ba bulge on it, this means you will also be able to fit your existing grille to it as you would to a factory bonnet

i hope to have the fairmont bonnet actually available to sell within the next 2 months - longer than i planned but because this is a full fairmont top it will be a much better result

in response to the fairmont guys concerned about clearance with me using the inner skin mould from the standard/xr bonnet, even doing it this way i have measured that at the middle point (directly between the two strut points) you still gain an extra 30mm over the standard fairmont bonnet. The added bonus with a full glass bonnet is that if there is a particular spot that you need even more clearance you could cut that small section out (before painting) and smooth it out giving you that bit more room.

buying factory bonnets and materials and making moulds is an expensive exercise guys so the more deposits the better!

re the sale of the gli/xr boss bonnet, as mentioned before the trial fit went very well and i have the bracket guy on the job of sorting out the latch to do the job - in the meantime i am just cleaning up the mould in preparation to make the production bonnets to get out to those guys who put their deposits in. Will get on to those guys shortly!

cheers
Adam

you beat me to it millard, was just about to post this up.

I am a very happy person now that there will be a fairmont top on the bonnet. It will look a hell of a lot better that the standard.

Just got this email from adam,

Quote:
Have started making some standard EF bonnets so I have a few there ready to go out. The latch that the engineer made up was very close but needed a few little tweeks so he has that now and will be making the final version for me now. So as soon as I get some latches back I will be able to start sending some out!

The other reason I am making some bonnets up is so that I have some there so I can then take the mould back out of production and use the bottom mould to set up the fairmont bonnet to mould. The fairmont bonnet just needs blocking back and wet rubbing then is ready to mould!

Shame I only have one person so far who has put a deposit down for one!

Enjoy the shots

And throw those up and also my message on fordmods when you get a chance

Cheers

Adam
