I have from my 96DA (hybrid) Head EL
- Stock Hybrid Cam - $80 Had 140,000K on it before it was replaced by the RPD cam. Great condition. - RPD Hybrid Stage 3 Cam - $200 Had less than 20,000 on it before the engine munched itself. The cam itself is in A1 condition. - Rollmaster Vernier Cam Gear (suitable for any E-Series) - $120 Again went in with the RPD cam, no problems whatsoever. Allows you to advance or retard the cam changing where the power comes on. P&H Extra or pickup from Canberra. The RPD cam, extractors, 2.5" exhaust, AU XR intake saw me putting down between 143 and 150RWKW through an AUTO! Idle quality is JUST good enough for a stock auto. You'll need to adjust the base idle to prevent it stalling when changing from park/neutral into a gear. This is a big cam not 'coming on' until about 3000RPM (so add a hi-stall or manual for great results). You'll need to organsie shims to use this cam as it's a regrind. Good straight torque delivery means strong acceleration (and the straight power curve). Well suited to a modded engine this cam still makes power above 6250RPM. Stock cam was good for 114RWKW with exhaust/extractors/intake mentioned. Hybrid parts may or may not suit a complete AU engine (even though it's the same head) - haven't tried, don't know for sure. Questions? Ask. {DESCRIPTION} RPD cam {DESCRIPTION} Stock cam

Bump.
Note this cam wasn't the reason for my engine failure. Don't worry. I don't need them anymore cause I'm going turbo, and have a regular headed engine now.

Will it fit an AU? [edit] Just read the first post in full. [/edit] Does anyone know if the cam is suitable for an AU.

I don't know any reason why it wouldn't. But this particulat cam hasn't been tested in an AU.
Whats the head part number on the AU in question. If it's a 96DA or 96DT (ie. the same as mine) it should be fine.

How does the inlet vacuum go, I don't think I can loose too much with the LPG mixer. Do you have any issues with the climate control with light throttle openings due to lack of vacuum?

Don't know what sort of vacuum it was (or wasn't) pulling but, I had no problems with accessories (or the brakes).
RPD cams (other profiles) have been used successfully on LPG before. A quick PM to Jaysen may provide an answer.

Check the head part number, if it's a 96DA or 96DT then it'll fit.
Chances are being a '97 it won't be.

this cam for all intent and purpose will fit and run in an AU.
Au heads had same rocker geometry and ratio as EL Hybrids. AUheads have conical valve springs as do Hybrids. Essentially all you are looking at is an AU head on an E-Series block. I know Chris will correct me if incorrect. BUT with that being said. IT will NOT work on a VCT head, well not without disconnecting the VCT anyway.. So that may open the market up a bit more for AU guys too.. Cam will work fine in a manual and should be ok in an AU auto. This cam with the vernier gear is a great buy at this price. Dave

I ran it in a stock auto (no hi stall), it was fine. Had to adjust the base idle to prevent stalling, but that's easy.

I am still interested but finances don't permit this month. How would it go with LPG?

Bump.
Do you have a hybrid engine? check the part number on the head. It'll need to start with 96DA or 96DT.

I have an AU Series III motor, but I am not sure how it will go with the LPG and Auto.
