Hey Ash,
Is it imperitive to change the AU ECU when doing a conversion or can you use a resistor trick or something similar? I cant seem to find a thread on it despite getting 147 pages of results when I search for AU manual conversion. |

Ash
How are the wheel nuts different from EF/EL? I need a set of alloy wheel wheel nuts for my wife's EF and was wondering if these fit? Cheers RD

{USERNAME} wrote: Hey Bruce, I put down AU> onwards as most of the pre-AU's I've had have had the long nuts on them due to the different off-set. But it would really all depend on the wheel you are using and how deep the nut hole in the mag is. I've got a few other sets if you put up a picture of the one you need. Cheers, Ash Thanks Ash, I'll whip one off the ED a little later. The only difference I know of is the length due to the longer studs on EF/EL. For example, I tried to put Turboblades on the EF but the nuts bottomed out on the studs. I stole Rachs original set to put the ROH's on the ED as I have EL running gear. Cheers RD

I'm pretty sure you can do the resister trick as with the e-series. But have never had to do one myself. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a manual ECU for an AU, even a forte one. The one I have for sale is a rare one though being VCT manual. Only available in XR6's. Yeah sorry, for the manual conversion. Ive had a better look through the archives and came up empty handed apart from an AU1 fairlane using the resistor trick. I cant find anything about an AU2 though. Ive made a thread. I hate my auto with a passion. |

It has nothing to do with Smartshield or Smartlock. Should work fine. I'm not an auto man either but I didn't convert my AU ute as I use it to tow a car float every now and then. Other wise that 5 speed would be in my car! I was told once upon a time that you do need a manual ecu for a conversion in an au, notice I said once upon a time.( may have been a fairy tale)

The door lock is for a friend who is on the pension, got her BA from a car crash payout.
She was devo when she found out that she may have to drive not being able to open that door. Hope she has the cash in the next few days as she has to borrow it off her mum. On another note I wish I had the spare cash to buy the rear shelf speakers for my sisters AU. How did they sound and were they running off a factory head unit?

I have another question for you, cruise control.
Is it on its own loom partnered with the abs like EF/EL Falcons?

Hey Ash, what would be required to throw this into the NA? Interesting mod this would be for the old Lane eh! It would then be a early model FBT
