This is a custom welded catch can and intercooler mist kit in one.
It fits neatly inside the engine bay resting against the wheel arch of an EF or EL falcon with a turbo or supercharger set-up and cost $315 to get made including the mist kit parts from CAPA performance. One section is an oil catch can with intake and return as well as a space for a small air filter. The other compartment holds water for the mist kit. The mist kit just uses a small pump like a washer pump and 2 adjustable nozzles supplied by (supplied by CAPA) as well as some flexible clear hose. You simply wire it into a switch in the car and activate when desired, or connect to a temp sensor and have it activate automatically. Please note the oil and dirt shown wipes off and my wifes hand (pictured) is not included... Cost $315 Asking $155

Where does it actually sit, in the wheel arch or engine bay?

Sorry inside the engine bay against the wheel arch sort of where the original air filter would go.

I can't seem to see it. Is that it under the BOV painted same colour as engine bay? Or not installed when this pic was taken? Is it painted in stealth fighter bomber paint and deceiving my eyes? |

So, looking at bottom pic, on top we have the mist compartment lid and the catch can breather. Which brass fittings are which starting top left and going clockwise?

it was not there when that picture was taken. Nor was the engine bay painted, nor does it have the Plennimum, the photo is old.
From the photo up top. The 2 top brass fittings are entry for oil breather lines (say PCV and back of the rocker cover) and the bottom one (which is shon plugged) is the outlet return line back to the sump. The silver cap is for the water for the mist kit and there is a hole on the front pannel (as it is mounted) where the little water pump pushes into. In this picture is would sit below the BOV

Do you have to get rid of it because it dosn't fit with the new plenum ie. intake pipe hits it? Reason I'm curious is I plan to ditch BBM for MRD style plenum.
http://www.mrdperformance.biz/frames/mainpage.htm I know this is an ED but plenum inlet and strut tower location should be very similar. |

No that's not the reason, in fact i haven't even tried it with the new plennimum so i dont know if it will fit although i suspect it would fit fine as the catch can sits lower than where the plennimum comes to anyway.
The reason is got it made is because i had oil blowout problems and i thought this was the solution, I also thought an intercooler mist kit was a good idea. I found the rings were actually dead and when i changed them i no longer needed the catch can (alkthough probably still worth having). The mist kit works fine but i decided that once i had upgraded the cooler piping etc.... it was not worth the hasle of another switch in the car and the space it took up in the engine bay just to have to fill it with water.
