{USERNAME} wrote: is there really that much of a chance that a cable will kink? Probably not... The best set up I have seen is about three metres long and goes the whole way to radiator and back to the gearbox --- Seems to work real smooth over that long single curve... Tell you what - there's thousands of short EA-ED cables out there going just fine, but I'd prefer the slightly longer EF-EL one to give me options of getting around the bloody hot extractors. If you put your cable in with a bit of logic and forethought you'll have a happy cable, which means a long lasting cable... If anyone can contact the guy who wanted two cables, above, and ask him to confirm it....... Have tried PM'ing and got no response as yet. |

actually afaik the cables are the same from ea2 to el..
this is what ford told me when i got mine..(same part number) the early 88 series1 ea had a really short cable which is now no longer available from ford.. but they all do the same job ... |

Have to disagree. I was given two separate part numbers for E series to 94 and EF / EL. Then there is a different part number for AU as well.
This lead me to ask the question of what was different, as I could only find EA-ED cables for sale in New Zealand and wanted a cable NOW!.... The answer was that they are shorter. BenJ confirmed this..... Is the EA1 cable adjusted at the gearbox end of the cable rather than the firewall end? If so - that's the first one I got, unless it's even the old X series... Anyway, what the hell. The cable manufacturers have them listed as separate part numbers too. |

Ford NZ charge $245 (which is why they don't sell any and thus have to keep the price high I presume!)... The local Ford experts charge $155, and over the net they are $90. Here they are for $55AU, which means everyone should buy a couple and have them in storage for times of need.

What I will do is simply pay for post for the five items to be shipped to Benj, Huggie or another local purchaser and then you guys can sort out the post to each other from there if you like. Sounds like the cheapest way, just depends on someone putting their hand up to do it. I could get Kelly to post each one individually I suppose. Will email or phone her and see how busy she is during the week! Since a few of you live so close and see eachother on occasion, could it be arranged to simply put three of them in one courier bag and send to SYDNEY night shelter for your collection?!!! Not that I am saying you all meet at the night shelter |

i dont mind distributing the cables once here in aus... im sure most people trust me. if not benj is a great bloke.
i guess to save on bank transfere fee's and what not we pay the extra lil bit and send the cables C.O.D as we then pay the exact amont once it arrives at our local aus post shop |

No worries. Looks like we have no problem getting them to you in Sydneytown for next to nothing. Will see how it goes, but I'd say you Sydney siders would be up for about $56.66 each inclusive (three of you) and the Melbourne guy could do $110 for the two.
Although, I could be jumping the gun on saying the THREE Sidney syders? Where's Troydudes order?! You guys sure you just don't want to buy another dozen or so and make money slowly selling them off to friends and family? Hell, you could even EBAY for $70 for guaranteed returns that far out weigh the housing market or bank deposits on a percentage basis! Also now have an Aussie bank account for you to put money into as well, so that saves loosing percentages to the banks... The man in the land of the vegemite sanwich is more upstanding than your local politician, more trustworthy than your mortgage lender and happens to be a silent, but nonetheless supportive, member of the "BRING BACK THE BLUE" movement. This last feather in his cap is gold. The biggest hold up on delivery is for my measly $55Au ($69NZ as of 9:47am Monday) to clear into his account from my NZ one. Will private message everyone who has purchased tomorrow evening with all these details. |

Cool, my cable is getting REALLY heavy now.
I am happy for the Sydney cables to be sent to me if you like. In fact, you can send Huggies to me too, as I have some other bits and pieces to send up to him. Waiting on banking details. Cheers BenJ

Thanks Benj and Speedy. Contact has been made with our Melbourne member who has repeated his request for TWO, so I am taking that as a confirmed order.
We still have 24 hours until this group buy officially closes, do we not? Buy some, damit, BUY SOME! |

Act now or forever hold your piece....
This bloody deal is starting to cost more and more. The exchange rate when I started it meant that my $56.66AU was about $68NZ. Yesterday morning it was $69 and this morning it is $70.84 NZD. Crap. I am going to go put my money into the Aussie account right now to save yet more dollars being stolen from me.... Much thanks to my eyes and ears on the ground in the land of the red dust cloud. If you'd like your name handed about willy nilly, I'm pleased to do so. Sometimes anonymity has its bonuses.... |
