GT40P HEADS
PORTED WITH SPRINGS Ford V8 5.0L Windsor 302 The intake and exhaust ports have been ported, with attention payed around the bowls and valve guides. The chambers have also had work. The heads have been upgraded with the Crane spring Kit, for usage with a bigger cam, and to avoid the valve float of the stock springs (PART NUMBER: 44308-1). All the necessary work has been done to make these heads work well. These high velocity heads produce great low down torque, perfect for a street car, and they made 180 rwkw on a mild set up before removal. I have cleaned these heads up ready to go straight on. Please take a look at the pictures to know what you are purchasing.

I have just finished porting a pair of Edelbrock Performer 5.0 heads soon to go on, so someone else gets the benafits from my GT40p's. I have no flow numbers, as I purchased the heads with a compleete motor. But it had a Crane 2031 cam and pipes in an AU tuned to 180rwkw, and if I remember correctly the previous owner got the head work done by Widowmaker Race Engines in Caloundra.

What intake, T/B, MAF and Injectors were used for the 180rwkw run?

All standard AU V8 intake, injectors, T/B and MAF.
The only mods besides the heads were the cam, stall, pacemakers,3 inch exhaust and I think chiptorque tuned it...was a while ago now, and was not my car when it was dynoed. I had a ported lower, pro-m MAF, 24 lb injectors and a 70mm TB set up before my motor broke that made 184rwkw. So not much difference in peak power really. After that I picked up the motor these heads came off, which had a virtually identical set up I don’t know what it was making after I did the swap, as I didn’t dyno it. Depends on what gear is used in the set up, how it’s put together, and how its tuned to how its going to perform. My bro got 180rwkw on an AU V8 also, with standard heads, 2031 cam, paceys, a dual 2.25-inch exhaust and a chiptorque tune I’m not going to guarantee you will get 180rwkw, but I also can’t say you wont get more either. I’m not really concerned about rwkw figures myself, as I like how a car drives in all conditions, not just at one particular moment in time. It felt really pully from take off right through to gear change though.. All these cars were running 14.3-14.4 quater mile.

I've already got the 185KW AU motor in my AU2 LTD. Figured some ported GT40P's would be cheaper than ripping my heads off for some porting.
I might start with a cam and RR's and see how I go with that.

You will need the springs and spring kit if your going to do the cam anyway, and even if you dont do a cam, the stock springs are crap.
Forgot to mention that all cars had the springs done, as its just procedure when doing a cam, as is the 1.7 roller rockers that have to be used with the 2031 cam. The porting though not extensive, is all thats really required to make the most of a high velocity head. And as I said its the pulling feeling you get on the way to the peak power that makes a difference. You might want to consider swapping the heads over when your doing the cam, as your going to have to take the intake off ,rockers off drain your radiator, etc etc ...would be a pain to have to do it again, not to mention the cost of porting and the springs/spring kit ontop of that.

Yeah, I figured that's why it'd be a cheaper way of doing it all.
Any idea how much shipping to Sydney would be ?

I recently shipped a set of complete GT40P heads from Brisbane to Melbourne for about $95 via Pack & Send. I expect Sydney would be a bit cheaper than that.
I've seen these heads close up and they're a very nice set. Good porting and complete with a quality Crane spring set makes them good value IMO. All the work already done and ready to bolt up, no hassles. |
