OH FFS!
I already said there is a massive difference in under bonnet temps! The brake booster is far cooler to touch than without the shield! And no it DOES NOT act as a heat sink! It doesnt even get as hot as the rocker cover! If you think there is no more than $60 worth of s**t in this then you're on drugs! Theres well over $60 of materials involved, let alone the labour of the place bending and cutting, which does not take 2 f**k minutes!, and on top of that, I suppose my labour in drilling all the holes, welding the nuts on and test fitting each one is free, right! I cant see how its a problem as the previous group buy, which was 2 or 3 years ago, had them going for $120 IIRC, and the guy worked in a metal place and said the stainless was scrap bits!!! No one winged about his prices! He got his 10 or 15 and still had more people wanting one! And Fiend, your so called heat shield IS a heat sink! Your sitting metal directly on what your trying to keep cool! Theres a reason Ford and others put there heat shields on the exhaust manifold and not everything else under the bonnet. The heat shield I have deflects most of the heat down the extractors, and under the car. The temp the heat shield sits at is NOTHING compared to how how the extractor pipes are! Any airflow through the engine bay will further help dissipate any heat held by the heat shield. Why dont you buy one and prove me wrong Fiend? If it doesnt reduce under bonnet temps, specifically brake booster, I'll refund your money, hows that sound? What more do you need to know? IT f**k WORKS! IT WORKS WELL! IT f**k LOOKS GOOD! IT'S EASY TO MOUNT! PM ME IF YOU WANT TO TAKE IT FURTHER! |

I'm probably interested if you're sure it will fit AU's

Before you get too C**k mate, you do have documented proof of the tests you have performed with before and after results, obviously the data would have to be collected using a heat gun and or other heat sensing devices to have any hope of proving the usefulness of said heat shield. Hearsay is something that doesnt fly in the real world so go get some proof if you want to be taken seriouslly. Just saying it works because you felt the temp difference is ludicrous, are you like some special accurate temperature sensing device and just havent told us yet. To me it looks you jumped the gun before this thing was even tested and a proven performer If you dont have proof you dont even have an argument to fight pal

Its not hearsay.
I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference between burning my hand, and not burning!!! If you cant then youve got a pretty serious problem. Pretty self explanatory really! |

For those interested in an AU setup, could you post a pic or 2 of the engine bay, specifically the distance from the shock tower to the side of the head is what I'm after.
The manifold bolts and spacing are the same, as extractors are all the same from EA to AU, just the distance to the tower may differ, although I have heaps of clearance there too. I'll see if I can find a pic actually, and if it will fit I'll amend the original post. |
