Just for those with XR's. I went with a 6000k kit on my EF, and basically it looks s**t with the high beams and HID's. The Highs are very yellow when used with this colour, I totally regret going white and would recommend anyone getting HID's to go with 4300k for consistancy.

Nothing worse than different colours in your beam pattern after driving for 6 hours through the night!

so buy matching ones for high beams also - easy fixed

I'll be getting set for Lane - just need to pull lights out to see what bulbs it has

I have a set of straight H4 HID's in my car, it makes a massive difference, but be prepared to get flashed by other cars at night...ALOT! This is why i'm going to get myself a set of Bi-Xenon globes so on low beam it's a little less bright.

Thats the reason I'm a bit undecided about the HIDs in normal lights..
Do you have 35 or 55 watters?
I think 6000k 35 watt low beams would be fine though...

Unless you have projector lights (like the ED-EL XR's) and light washers these are a defect waiting to happen :!:

As a long time HID user, some tips.

- Don't go higher than 6000K, anything higher will be a cop magnet, and is actually less bright.
- Angle your headlights down a bit from normal, will stop people thinking you're high beaming them.

And finally as AXR88U mentioned, they are technically illegal on any car that doesn't come with them factory (thus includes the required projector* style lenses, and washer jets)

*the projectors used by E series XR's aren't quite the same as real HID capable projectors.

close enough.

And they need self-levelling too. (not in that quote from the ADR however).

You need to adjust your headlights mate. That is the first thing you should do after installing HIDs.
