Hi All,
I am selling a pair some of Alpine's finest passive crossovers on behalf of a friend - they have -6db - + db tweeter adjustment and consisted apart of Alpine's flagship components as of a couple of years ago. RRP on the complete set (tweets, mids, crossovers) was $999...I suspect the 6.5" midbass drivers are damaged...I suspect voice coils perhaps - hence the cheap price. Crossovers midbass drivers - $150 Thanks, Steve Last edited by dcstraight on Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:33 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

Bump ! $130 - These crossovers are built with great components - good 0 / -3 / -6 db roll-offs for tweets - as far as good passive crossovers go, these are brilliant.
For anyone with entry level-ish Alpines, one criticism is the bright tweeters...here is an opportunity to attenuate without having to go bi-amped / run a separate active crossover etc. Thanks, Steve |

I have mb quartz reference splits in my ute, but the crossovers cut out the tweeters now and again on overload (which I think is there for protection). Would these be a suitable replacement/upgrade - or are they more specifically tuned for alpines?

Good luck steve Thanks Aaron - yeah I'd nearly consider using them, but I have control of most frequencies with the type x crossovers and the 7998 bass engine pro functions. KTASTRPHE - Hard to say about your MB Quartz splits - if something is shutting down, I wouldn't think it to be anything to do with the crossover points of your passive MBQ crossover ? In terms of applications, the DDC-F17 crossovers can be used like most others - ie you could perhaps run your mids active (if you have the spare amp chanels and the inclination of course!) and run tweets through the passive crossover to attenuate the 0 / -3 and -6 dB roll-offs. Of course you could scrap using any form of passive crossover altogether and run everything active hehe. To answer the other part of your question, the crossover points in the crossovers are obviously designed around use with the matched driver...that's not to say that these crossovers won't suit other speakers (presuming loads are all the same - ie 4ohm final), but then again your MBQ's might have different crossover settings altogether *shrugs*. If you were local, I'd say try them out...but you couldn't be any further away Anyway - hope that makes some sense Let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers mate, Steve |

Have a look and see what you can find out about the cxrosover points Steve.
They may well be around 2.5 - 3k which is pretty normal for and set of splits. I havent really seen too many vary much from here in a passive set-up...
