Hi All,
I have an Alpine 2 channel V12 for sale. Just a bit of info on it - Alpine Oz recieved a bunch of these back in 98/99 from the US to make way for the second gen V12 range - this particular model is roughly equivalent to the MRV-T505 on paper, but is regarded as an 'Expert' series amp - AFAIK, slightly different components for more power. To give an idea on power ratings : MRV-T505 @12V makes 2 X 50 RMS on paper --> certificate says 2 X 77.5 RMS (also @ 12V). MRV-T502 @ 12V makes 2 X 50 RMS on paper --> certificate says 2 X 89.0 RMS (also @ 12V). I've run 2 Alpine VR 10" subs from a T502 with no problems at all - alternatively it would also be a very nice dedicated front stage amp. RRP back in the day was a bit of coin, but were mainly bundled with subs to make it a 'good deal'. *Anyway*, top amp - I was considering putting it in the gf's EL...but we're really after a 5 channel V12...so would consider trade with cash adjustment or sell for $280. Just wondering whether you have ever tried running it at 2 ohms bridged, ive found a manual online and they dont say anything about it, i know not all amps are suitable but some u can still do it.
Im looking for somethin low budget to drive a dualvc typeR 12

Manual can be found here :
{DESCRIPTION} I have never run it at 2 ohm...but in your application, I think it would run ok - Type R Alpines are rated 300 RMS - is your Alpine Type R Dual 4ohm or Dual 2ohm ? Cheers, Steve |

Ah ok - I can't tell you to be honest, as I have never used it in a bridged 2ohm application. I'd say try it out and see how you go...but you're not exactly around the corner hehe.

i reckon it'd be pushing your luck to try to run the amp at 2 ohm bridged

Yeah - my sentiments too...the only glimmer of hope I have thinking otherwise is that these 'US Expert Series' can cop quite a beating...I recall rumours of people bridging these down to 2ohm and getting BIG power out of them...however this was only word on the grapevine...I have never seen it for myself...although I have heard the above rumour on more than once occasion from different sources *shrugs*. EFracer - Tough call - you'd probably be better off finding something else. Cheers, Steve |

Birth certificate only has 4 ohm stereo - 2 X 89.0 WRMS @ 12 V as stated in first post. If you're serious - would take $260. |
