the falken azenis range has some ok rubber..
Dunlop make a decent DOT track tyre.
Buy the Toyo RA1 and get em buffed, they are awesome for the $$ but don't worry bout 16's get em in 225/50/15's, good side wall size, dont get as much flex, your still looking at $250ish a corner though.. they warm up pretty quick too.
what tread wear compound you looking for?

I have a set ot MT Street et's for drag racing. 235/60/15, no complaints, they were about 240 from American Autos from memory.

yeah for drag mickey T's, for track the Toyo RA1's.

Drag you would be doing a MONSTER burnout to warm em up.. it takes me ½ a lap of eastern creek to get sticky heat into the toyo's..

micky t's are VERY soft warm up FAST good side wall flex as well..

stick em on the road and you will get about 500 kay out of em..

thay will overheat and chew em selves out in no time.

the nitto drag radials arent to bad either though they arent as sticky as the m/ts. even after a big burnout.
