You won't need to touch tyre pressures with a stockish auto 4L.
Run the pressure you run with on the street, reduce rolling resistance. Steel rims are a good idea, as long as the tread on them is half decent, they weigh less then alloys. I'm not a fan of stalling up with stock stalls (unless boost is involved). With 4Ls I stay on the brake, tramp it, and a fraction of a second after I get off the brake, so it "flashes" the stall. This technique also works on auto LS1s

It hits it harder and shocks the stall point up a bit more, as opposed to sitting on the brake at the stall point and heating up the trans fluid.
I think with stock convertors because they are so tight, stalling them up does 2 tenths of f**k all. Give it a crack.

The track at the motor plex is very good, traction wont be a problem if your running a near standard 6. Especially in a BTR auto. I'd leave it around 30 if you have good rubber, a tad less it you have large rims. No big burnouts with standardish tyres, a quick blast to get the water off and get em warm is fine. Might see you down there.

okay so this time dont run with a carload of mates, do a run of just the driver in each, and like i mentioned before, take out any dead weight like subs/spare.
I meant more like what steady said about 'stalling' the auto, sept i didnt really know how to explain it. havent driven auto for a long while now. |

I don't know how all the Ford boys on here, can just plainly state, that you'll flog him. I doubt you will.
I reckon it will be line and ball. If his ute's a bit ratty, then you might just pip him top end. The saving grace you have, is thats it an auto. If it was a manual ute, he'd flog you. VN-VS manual 6 utes move pretty well. The auto's slow them down a heap. |

vn auto are very similar to manuals in terms of speed where as wit ford a manual gear box makes a massive diffrence.
generally ford i6 should get a holden v6 over the quarter, i am yet to lose to a commy v6 on a street race until the speed limit.

I don't know how the manual/auto makes no difference in VN's works.
The 3-4 manual VN's i've been in, all fly for the buckets of s**t they are. One must have been a freak, cause i would've put it in low 15 sec territory, the thing just screamed. Yes the manuals in the Falcon's mnake a huge difference too, but auto to auto. I reckon this will be a very close race. I'll be waiting to here the results and see some timeslips. |

vn commy autos have very short ratios, first and second are just as short as their manuals,
as the commies got newer the first 2 gears in the auto wer also slightly increasd. which is why a vn would hammer on take off but a vx,vy and vz are slugs off the mark. where as ford used the same ratio auto gbox since the ea 4speed through out to au. as i said before if both are in good nick the ford i6 should win, no argument. i remember seeing old nrma specs and road tests. vs stood no chance near a ef. ef clearing 0-400m in 16.1 and the vs in 16.9. the ford was even quicker 0-100.
