you need to get a copy of the current andra rule book, (www.andra.com.au) there you will find all the requirements of cage etc for tech inspection.

You can do anything you like as long as you have an engineer that will say its ok and certify it. Get a copy of the ANDRA regs, if its anything like the CAMS manual it will have specy's for the cage with required stock and thickness etc. Im pretty sure you can find a way around the side intrusion bar, Ive seen a few streeters with full cages that are legal and certified, depends which state you do the certification (theres the clue for ya, choose a state or territory that has relaxed rules on cages etc, I would choose the NT). Also, one other thing, if you run any type of cage, you cannot carry rear seat passengers AT ALL.

4 point can be registered but as a 2 seater and carnt go quicker than 9.9 140mph for Andra in a standard monocule aka chassic so no mini tubs or full tubs.
Contact an engineer in your state as u being in QLD i think u can get away with full cage from firewall to rear bumper, but contact them and make sure bud. ALso go cromolly as its lighter and not much cost difference...............

big price difference between chromolly n mild steel section by section. it may work out cheaper as you can 'afford' to use thinner materials with chromolly as opposed to mild steels.
i'm sure cams or similar authority has minimum guidelines by material as ally ones are common also,
