i heard it is a waste of time to do a massive burnout on street rubber(becoz street tyre rubber doesnt get hot ) and all you should do is a qik burn out to burn off the water at to clean any s**t on the tyres...is this true

i have tried both small and big burnouts, and yes there is bugger all difference in the launch afterwards, so yeah, no real need, in my experience anyway.

i find if you do a big burnout that the tyre gets hot.
i just like to sit there and pop a good skid, the crowd looks at you the next time around, expecting another one.
im not sure if it helps for a better launch though.

im pretty sure they covered this in zoom and droping the tyre pressure below 22psi(i think) was also useless

40psi. My auto has no problem with traction off the line. Doing burnouts is always good fun though.

dropped pressure doesnt seem to effect top end speed, if it does i would imagine it is a very small drop, i might head out to wsid soon and give terreriost ghia's street slicks a go, see how much i can drop the 60' time with them. but because they are such a tall profile i think my 3.27 diff will really hold me back with them on.
hhhmmm... my previous best was 14.64 on 2.0 sixty footer 14psi in rear tyres... could not beat it...allways running low pressure in the rear tyres...lastnight at the creek i got 3 14.6s 2 14.7 n a 14.4! all 93-95.6 mph.. havent touched the engine at all... heres the twist.... i didnt touch the TYRE PRESSURE! still ran 3 2.0 sixty footer!!!! n my mph figure was on up average of 1-4 mph faster across the finnish line on all runs... more pressure =less rolling resistance?

I agree. I have thought this too, that more pressure = less resistance.

Either way, I don't think you should let your tyres down at all.

You don't do it on the street (and if you do, you should grab a mirror), so why do it on the strip? Unless you have a "dedicated" quarter car, what's the point? By doing s**t like that, it's not representative of what your car can do every day so why bother?

What ever blows you hair back, I suppose...

i'm gonna test both normal and low pressure next time i'm up at willowbank.
i find that a half flat tyre creates alot of drag.

i think i proved taht low pressure in a street tyre =lots drag n 2-3 mph on average slower accross the line..

i think there would be a good happy medium between more pressure =less resistance and less pressure=more resistance...with my old silvia it was harder to get a good sixty foot time with out dropping the pressure and traction would improve heaps with less pressure
