Ok so mitch_, my bro and myself went up to willowbank last night just for kicks.
Mitch ran his old man's company car VY Station wagon.
My brother ran dad's TJ magna 3.5L V6
And I ran my AU Futura.

All these cars are totally standard.

The magna ran its best time 15.61@144km/h
The falcon ran its best time of 15.96@141km/h
The vy... hahaha useless time of 16.65@136km/h

The 3.5L V6's in the magna's arent a bad unit, I couldn't pull anything on it in the AU.
I'm almost tempted to buy a sports or VRX.
The VY on the other hand.. I wasnt expecting much of a race but even with the shocking 90km/h first gear, I was in front the whole time.

Hands down for the TJ - Bang for your buck stocker.

Solid work!

A VS thread with a result! Well done! :D

As much as I hate to say it, those Magnas are punchy. I had a tussle with a TJ in my old XR6 and I didn't beat it by anywhere near the margin I had imagined!

I've always had a soft spot for the TJ VRX. Would love to take one for a spin. Although I still get the feeling that FWD would ultimately be the limiting factor.

Thanks mate. That was the aim. To produce a Vs. thread that was proven at the track.
and I agree with you - if they were rear wheel drive I really would buy one.

that is a awsome time for the magna, i always knew that they had a bit of go in them but not that much. dosent that model have 147kw???
japanese v6's are way under-estimated, i remember seeing a 01 camry v6 pulling 15.8 dead stock.

put 4.11's in the au just to bring the gearing more fair against the magna and you will rape it.

i dont think that would make it 'rape' the magna but it would put it up there.
i've since sold the au too.
