Hey guys
I really want to know if anyone has had the same problem? I own an EL XR6. its pretty stock except for an exhaust and a K&N filter. but my mates VS statesman always beats me off the line and I cant catch him. Has anyone else owned an EL XR6 and found that it was a tad lazy? Cheers |

Auto? Tried stalling it up instead of just flooring it? Autos have a stupidly high first gear so they are going to be a bit slow off the line.

alright here is a list of things that have done to the car
-new fuel filter -new bosch fuel pump -new bosch platinum sparks -new bosch sports ignition leads -shift kit (fn awesome in the wet, lol) -2.5in redback exhaust (Cat-back) -Superlow all round and monroe GT sport shocks and struts -new head gasket (when this was done lifters were replaced and the head was reconditioned, the valve springs were replaced, the rockers were replaced, basically I got a new head for the engine)- -K&N panel filter dont get me wrong, the XR still puts out, but i dont think that it is running as it should be, especially after the head was fixed up. Either that or my mate has a freak stato, but then again, my GF’s VY will kill me and my other mates VS manual will kill me as well. Could it be that it needs a tune or something? |

Don't expect too much of an auto falcon off the line mate, as said, they have a s**t house first gear, even with the XR's 3.45 diff ratio.
By the sounds of things, your XR is pretty much a near stocker. Being an EL, it might pay to check the timing to ensure it isn't out by any chance. Also check for any vacuum leaks just to be safe and maybe think about renewing the O2 sensor and getting your injectors reconditioned. I know this won't make a world of difference, but these are a few things i would recommend doing to get a bit more out of the XR.. Get some extractors fitted, free up the intake piping and reset the ECU.. See how it goes then |

definatly advance the timing and run BP Ultimate 98 (or any premuim fuel for that matter)
He may have a freak VS, but also check to see if your stock cat is blocked or what not, i remember, my car went total balls like on me when the cat collapsed, got a new one, and she got up and boogied lol

How would I go about checking the timing?
would it be better if I gave it to my mechanic? Ill check the Cat, O2 sensor as for injectors I'll get a set of reconditioned injectors I have already cleaned the throttle body |

Stato has a decent 1st gear, BTR's are just crap! There is your problem!

I also think the auto is probably whats letting you down. My Nannas old EL auto would get raped by my old t5 XG. The old auto falcons were not "brilliant"
