Hi guys,
I have an AU XR6 HP that I am building into a circuit race car. Being a HP it has an open diff. I am considering using a mini spool as it will be an easy conversion, or so I read with an open center. I have never owned or driven a car with a mini spool but I have googled the subject a lot. Many seem to use them on circuit race cars and even the v8 supercars use full spools. My questions are, will it bolt straight into my diff without any other mods? Will is be a good choice for a circuit car? (Keen to hear from those that have used them on track. Will I have any reliability issues? Thanks. |

My ef lsd was knackered so was just as easy/ cost effective to go minispool. You won't notice any binding issues on the track if that's what your worried about more just in pit area etc turning sharp/ slow which is where you would be most likely to stress axles if anywhere, I'd go a minispool if was just for track use and looking to make any more power, you'll hate it if you ever do manage to single spin with a lsd.

you will have a 3.45 lsd in the rear
it is not an open diff like the base models there should be a metal tag on the diff housing with the ratio and lsd or hi performance on it I have had 2 au xr6's both HP 1 auto and 1 manual both have lsd! if it not a lsd diff it has been removed by one of the previous owners

Ok thanks Disco. I was told that they were all open centers (HPs that is). I will have to have a look.
Xrstu. the car is coming along nicely. I don't get a whole lot of time on it but little bits and pieces are getting completed here and there. Should have a build thread update soon. |
