Pretty sure the ute would win.

Mainly because it did. :|

is that because the ute is lighter on the rear wheels than a sedan but we check both the weights of the cars and they were the same?

XG is the EF motor. Maybe different diff and gear ratios, i'm sure top speed of the EL would be greater but the ute would get there quicker?!? Just a guess.. I really have no idea! lol :) Anyway would be interested to know myself.. My little bro just got an XG ute...

Like Dans said..

XG's had an ED motor.

My XG was a lot slower that my old EF.

Are you sure about that? I thought XG=EF and XH=EL?

Yes. I had one until last Friday. XG is EB/ED. XH is EF/EL.

Early XH's had the EB style intake manifold too.

ill do my best to answer your questions

clearly if the xg won, then it will win

and the second question
Quote:
is that normal?

yes, yes it is.. in a race, generally one of the competitors wins and the other looses

hope that helped you out abit..

yeah the ute is difinitly stock as a rock and EL XR6 has been rebuilt with a wade 1673 cam in it. its also only running a stock futura ECU in it due to mine being faulty. maybe if that makes a difference or not?

wow there should be no match at all you should be car lengths in front of a stock XG ute then. I think there must be something seriously wrong with your car.

It shouldn't matter, a Futura ECU will learn a 1673 just fine, do you have an EL XR6 fuel system though? if so your car would be running very rich with the Futura ECU.
