Look guys. i already have an EL XR6 turboed, but im ws thinking of putting xr6 turbo or typhoon twin vsm engine in for getting alot more power out of it, but still that costs nearly more that what i could find supra engine and box so thats why i was asking all of you to see if you got any idea. I was told that for a 6spd gearbox and xr6 turbo emgine and computer and wiring loom they want $7000 at Fordpro in smithfield. and wasd able to get supra stuff for 5000. so its just the fittingnow that is a question

You could probably get the Supra motor and box installed, tuned and running for less than the B series motor box and wiring just sitting on a pallet. I say go for it.

go for it, its a proven setup, and it has been done before.
people have put 2jz's in all sorts of cars, falcon's have big bays it should be pretty easy.

I think somebody mentioned very briefly ZOOM magazine - check it out if you haven't seen it they show some really weird and wonderful conversions.....saw a 4wd XF ute with a lexus V8 being built up for off road competition amongst many other things....
Oh, and my 00.02c worth - `rice' for me is the gaudy stupid neon, horrible colour, 6" exhaust tip stuff...putting a powerful engine stealthily in a car it was never designed for and making it go well, thats hot rodding...

We done a 1JZ twin turbo conversion to my broz van and it moves on a crappy tune on low boost, it ran a 13.9 @ 119mph and 1JZ are super tough engine and cheaper than 2JZ.
1JZ head untouched outflows a 2JZ head untouched and some guys use the 1JZ head on 2JZ bottem end and call it 1.5J which is a good combo. What are ur hp goals and what do u want to use the car for??? eg street/drag??? Are u going to be doing all the fab work for mounts and so on??? also u going to wire in the ecu???

{USERNAME} wrote: Guaranteed up to 800hp at the wheels all day every day with just bolt ons. (single turbo conversion, decent cooler and fuelling upgrades). That's 600kW at the wheels from a motor that has noot been opened up. Tell me you can do that with a falcon 6 and then you can call a 2JZ a s**t ricer motor. Have a look here for a rough price guide on what it takes to get a falcon motor pumping out those numbers reliably. http://www.atomicperformanceproducts.co ... _list.html not quite man you cant use the record numbers made on a dyno in the US as a reference to how much power an engine will handle under stress on the road - ie. launching etc. the most you would want to push the standard bottom end to is 450rwkw all day everyday. which is plenty high enough. anything over that and your risking the engine, but you would need over 25psi anyway, so its not such a street car when you start needing to use race gas. and unless you can do all the fab work yourself, there is no chance you will get the engine paid for and installed for less than a falcon for the same power. you need to remember you are buying a 2jz with standard turbos trans etc. so you still need to budget for all the extra s**t you need like fuel system turbo and what not. then you have an engine that likes to rev harder, but has less bottom end torque, so you would need to get the setup spot on to actually be quicker. sadly 2jz are getting to be over priced!. i paid $300 for a complete 2jzge and then $80 for some pistons from a 2jzgte. i can swap the pistons myself and install some new rings at the same time, hey presto i have a 2jzgte essentially for $500 odd but the 2jzgte engines will get $1500-$2k on its own and around $3k for a halfcut. seeing as you are really only comparing the engine in terms of cost of build (as everything like trans, turbo and fuel need to be upgraded regardless) then you can come out ontop when choosing the 2jz, but any extra fab costs can easily break the bank, making the barra or even the SOHC engine a better choice if you build them right. for 450rwkw or more the barra engine would need rods, pistons and valve springs basically... so you could pickup a n/a BA motor and rebuild it, could probly do it for around the cost of the 2jz conversion if you buy with a target in mind, and then you have a fresh engine as apposed to a jap engine of unknown condition or kms im all for the 2jz as its going into my commodore, but you really need to weigh up the situation correctly. the 4l can be made to make some good power and get a nice power curve, but you just dont see that many getting around with GT42s pumping 20psi into them with a proper build made to support decent power levels.
