bought a 12 psi turbosmart actuator and also a turbosmart e street boost controller .how can i have 7 psi one one tune and then on a drag tune 15 psi .i know that i can set up the boost controller that way ,but can the boost controller open the 12 psi actuator even if i want it to open at 7 psi .i also have a sct flash tuner tuned by elite .or am i better of taking one of the springs out and turn it into a 7 psi actuator ,and how do i do that ?

sure can do it like that, the eboost will controle the amount of boost and the tune will be made to compensate how it runs so your motor doesn't go bang

You can't run a lower boost than what your actuator is rated at. A boost controller works by bleeding off the pressure feed to the actuator, thereby tricking the actuator into seeing a lower boost level than what is actually present.

Quoted for truth.

yup.. +1 for Xcabbi.

I have 7 and 12 PSI springs too. I left the 12PSI out as I wasn't planning on running that high before.

Annoyed now because I am running much higher than 7PSI now but not a big issue.

ok so what spring rate would suit best .7 psi spring would still go to about 15 psi ? is that correct .it used to run 15 psi on the standard actuator .just wanted to maybe try a little higher boost so if i use 7 psi it can only double the boost ,but i would like maybe 16 -17 psi .can the boost controller get that higher reading ?

your 7 PSI spring will be fine for 15.. apparently double is the guideline 7/14.... but it's pretty flexible.

I've run over 15psi with my 7 psi spring.

My actuator is a Kinugawa not a turbosmart, but in my case they sell color coded springs of different ratings.. at first they sent me a unit with the 12PSI in it.. when I showed, them, they posted me the 7psi spring. the top of the actuator is held on by about 9 allen key bolts.. I take them out, lift the rubber flange thing out of the way and pull the spring out.. reverse process with the new spring in.

looking at this: {DESCRIPTION} looks like the same sort of deal for turbosmart.. (i don't know what model you have)

This is probably what you have here: {DESCRIPTION} and the first link is the springs available for it.

apparently the actuator i bought has a set of 2 springs inside the casing .so you can change to 3 psi or 7 psi or 12 psi .and i have looked at the pictures that you have up loaded but can not work out which one to buy (there are 2 7 psi springs available

it looks like there is a spring on either side of your diaphram.. I say that means that if you have a 12 on one side and you want to have 7PSI overall the other spring should be a 5psi.

have your unscrewed the lid on your actuator to have a look? they are designed to come apart so there is no issue doing that.. if you have a spring on both sides of the diaphram.. the one closest to the actuator leg would be the big one.. the other springs pressure would subtract from that one to give you your final rating. That's how it looks at first glance anyway.

Having said that, if your wastegate is the IWG75 then it has only one spring.. if you go to this page:
{DESCRIPTION} and click on the instuctions button and scroll down it gives you an internal schematic which shows only one spring.

If that is not the one you have (it's the one designed specifically for the XR6T) see if you can find the model number of yours and we'll look it up.
