SR20DET and gearbox $2500 - $3000.
Microtech/wolf - $1500
Fitting $$$ and other mods $$

If you have $10k then you should have no worries. The more you do yourself the cheaper it gets. I put an SR20 in an escort without any body mods other than relocating the gear lever hole.
Sump had to be modified and engine and gearbox mounts made up. Tailshaft cut down.
Also had to move brake booster and change brake and clutch setup - changed to hydraulic clutch.

It is never cheap to do this kind of mods so unless your dedicated dont even bother - there is not a cheap option in this case. Think about the other cars you could buy for $10 plus the sale of your current car - eg EL/ EF xr6orxr8.

Not trying to talk you out of it as it would be great when finished but just give you a few things to think about.

Rocco's for mech work
Rocco's Performance
Unit 5/ 24 Eddie Rd Minchinbury 2770 (02) 9625 2716

Imo I'd get a full 1/2 cut from guys like SSS Automotive Pty Ltd
Fctry 5/ 120 Gilba Rd Girraween 2145 (02) 9636 4301
That way you get computer etc front brakes, the lot....You will still need efi tank and fuel lines, efi pump...

Have a look around the place....
They can warrenty engine ..What they do is keep computer till its fitted into car..When you collect comp. Then warrenty starts...Cannot be better than that !!!

i'm doing an SR20 in to a MK2 escort at the moment.

diff, we are using a modded EB diff with 3.9 gears and lsd. RS2000 tramp rods
with the falcon rear brakes

front brakes are falcon fronts from an EB. the owner is suplying a bolt on kit.

master cylinder is a 3 cylinder pedal box (front cyl, rear cyl and clutch cyl)

we're having a custom tail shaft made localy.

cutting the trans tunnel out and fitting an escort automatic trans tunnel

the only problem we are having is the intercooler. the customer doesn't want the cooler to stand out. so it's becoming a pain to find a good spot for it and still have good air flow over it.

I have a twin cam escort pedal box. This is the factory pedal box with i master cylinder shared for front and rear brakes and 1 master cylinder for clutch. This is the same pedal box i used for my sr20 escort. I used a Supra intercooler that will fit perfectly and can be bought for about $200. Not too bad for a factory intercooler.
If you want to by the pedal box let me know - you will need to buy 2 new master cylinders to go on it but it will bolt into you car.

we are charging $3000 pluss parts.
in this case it was hard to give a total price as the customer is suplying parts when he can and we call him first befor ordering any.

for a basic swap $2500 pluss parts would be on the money.
but we are doing some extra things with this car out side of the conversion.

other parts are thing like new gaskets where needed, new flywheen,
H/D clutch

doing all of our own cooler and exhaust piping, custom cooler.
posibly fitting the 180SX speedong to the escort dash.
using a world cup crossmember (stronger mounts)

for your car the V6 GT vented front brakes should be enough. and in our case would have been fine as well as a direct bolt swap. but the customer wanted the falcon brakes and 5 stud bolt patern.

you may have problems with the trans tunnel being to small, the easy fix is one from an auto modle.

there are a number of diffs that would suit your car. modified falcon or hilux diffs are plenty strong.
there are also alot of stronger parts for the capri ATLAS axle. try serching for sites in the UK and getting the parts through a company called QUIKCO there good for old english ford parts

Capri V6 /Atlas diffs are expensive..Imo use std until you get one sorted..
Diffs from small Jap trucks work o/k too with disc brake...
