ok guys, I'm back after a long stint in the modified 4wd world and honestly I'm a little lost.

want some advice on exhaust options for the turbo. my last ford was a ba xt which had 2.5 from the catback with reduced mufflers and sounded awesome. people kept asking me if it was a v8.

this will be a daily driven work commuter mainly so performance while still a factor is not number 1 on the list. I plan on keeping it as stock as possible for the moment.

it is manual it will get a dyno tune eventually.

what I'm looking for is a little burble at idle and as loud as possible whilst not getting much if any drone at freeway speeds.

I've heard good things about xforce and the xforce exhaust on my old man's auIII pursuit Ute sounded wicked.

can anyone give me some suggestions on the packages I should be looking at to achieve this

IMHO you would be lucky to get the sound you're after. It seems to me that all twin cam engines(falcon and skyline) sound really raspy at higher revs, and the louder they are, the more $hit they sound......

My SOHC 4.0L sounds better than most, with a 3" system, Ballistic cat, with 2 X 2 1/2" mufflers in parallel, with optional cut down dumpy muffler to quieten it down on road trips.......

Cheers

Daz

I know what you mean. I stumbled across a really good sounding combo in my old dohc ba (imo) but the turbo adds another dimension.

everyone keeps telling me that turbos are very difficult to get good sound from.

to be honest iknow i am probably looking for a little too much from an exhaust but would love a good compromise.

G'day mate Awesome response from everyone on this forum, outstanding !!!!!!!

Anyway on an exhaust related topic what i did to my ute was have the rear muffler cut out and replaced with straight pipes and if sounds wicked.

has a burble at idle and when ur giving it heaps it sounds sweet and at 110km/hr you cant hear a thing untill you put your foot down and also when ur changing back gears it has that burble that everyone loves but anyway theres my 2c.

Are you talking muffler or resonator.

I'm taking about the very last muffler at the back. it gives you a heaps better note and abit more flow.
