Imo if a well sorted 4.0 had the same treatment ? It should run in 7 second area... Would have to be sorted auto etc.. Now this is what I want to see. Full tube frame Mondeo powered by a monster Barra Turbo Motor being one of the front runners in PRO RWD. |

They Roadtested (not sure what program) a Stock VL with a Stock EB XR6 S...EB left the VL for dead, and said it handled alot better...so forth As for the R31 my gf and her brother both drive them, their great boxy cars, they got abit of go to them...but my fairlane...and my last 2 cars (Stock Classic ED) and Xr6 still leave em for dead:D:D

Sorry ed Fairmont bat that were you are wrong. A 3 litre RB30 was introduced in 1986 with 118kw in r31 form and the equvalant for 4.1 litre ford with EFI was 120kw. That was a dismal output for 1.1 litre larger in capacity engine. While the MPEFI versions are better still up till the AU111 some 14 years later they still were only still reaching the output per litre as the old Nissan engine. Most ford engines are complete rubbish up to the BA series. How many headgaskets have people done? The 3.0l Nissan engine was also much lighter than the 4l ford engine so it wasnt just the lighter frame and better gearing. The standard Nissan engine will tolerate more power than a standard 4L.A decent 20 year old manual rb30 will eat either of my fords and use less fuel. It doesnt really matter what vehicle you have if you pour $$$ into it you can go fast. If you look up 0-100 times for R31`s and Fords you might get a surprise!

To compare a 4l to the rb30 a 50 cent coin can sit perfectly still on the tappet cover of the rb but moves slighty on the 4l

Yeah Nick, I had it first then sold it to Kane, and then got it back a couple of years later and thrashed it some more, The body fell apart before the Engine gave up. It copped two tbones, one rear ender and one 2m in the air and down and a front on, before we decided to call it quits.

who cares anyway?
I miss the days with my worked cleavland.. I used to sit at the lights idling and the car rocked like it was floating in rough water... and a really deep rumble.. (has 4v heads, tuned length paceys, 780cfm carb and a nice lumpy cam) nowdays if a motor doesn't sound and act like a sewing machine, people don't like it.. where have your balls gone people? |
