How do you create boost with no load on engine? At a guess, one BIG a*** supercharger moving aheckofalot of air. Although I imagine it'd be a rough/high idle.

There is one other option I saw a while back, and that is to have a large modified lpg tank hooked up to a big turbo, with a soleoid valve and an NRV. When the turbo is on boost, it charges the tank, and when you hit the throttlle hard enough, the solenoid opens giving full boost off the line until the turbo spools up. Great for drags, but I don't know how effective it would be on the street. Also the engine I saw it on was a rotary, and these reach full boost at fairly low RPM.

as for the name i was drunk! i swear...
as for the concept.. the only real issue i see is that you would need the turbine to spin well above engine rpm, probably 3times faster to create any boost... anyways thoughts appreciated,, -mitch

What if you were to have a turbo on the exhaust manifold, but this exhaust side of the turbo (whatever its called) is connected via a clutch of some sort, which is then connected to a puller, and then the crankshaft through a belt. Then the turbo would spool up using the crankshaft like a supercharger, but then when it hits boost, the clutch disengages and it works like a turbo from there working of the exhaust gases... What do you think? what are the downsides? I just couldn't think of one... Cheers at the end of the day its just excess piping and the actual turbo that is the difference

It would be cheaper to just get two turbos one small and one big to get small amount of boost quick then the larger turbo kicks in and hammers up the boost!

Do you all know what a centrifugal air pump is IE CAPA supercharger? Its basically the inlet side of a turbo (compressor wheel and housing) connected to a gearbox. These type superchargers are known for not providing much if any boost down low, but that is because they are geared so they don't produce to much boost in the high rev range.
The thing with this type of compressor is, it is no a positive displacement type arrangement. (IE does not force out a given volume of air per revolution) You cant just spin it really fast low in the rev range and expect it to produce boost. The compressor will run into something called "surge". Surge is when the compressor is spinning too fast for the volume of air that the engine is ingesting.
