Howdy all
I've recently decided to convert my EF engine to AU, i havn't got engine yet but it's not far off. After this i'm looking at the Turbo option, Basicly i'm after an everyday driver and trying to get out as cheap as i can. I'm not after huge amounts of power 180-200KW will do fine. n a standard AU Engine handle this power on a daily basis? and roughly how long ould it last?. Cheers Acidic

An AU engine can take around 300rwkw on a daily basis if you have a good tune.
However i see in your sig you have a T5 so around 200rwkw would be the limit for a daily. For that power I suggest a Snort Performance stage two kit, with the water to air cooler. budget around 5 grand including dyno runs and miscellaneous s**t.

Or go against the grain and try a Raptor V supercharger.

why not look straight at the ba barra 6cyl a good tune ,exhuast and intake and you would get your 200kw without the turbo

because theyre slugs ive seen countless BA 6's making nearly 180kw at the treads and cant get out of the 15's Put 180kw at the wheels of an EF and you'd be hopeless if you couldnt crack low 14's at aleast |

putting the BA motor in isnt worth the extra s**t of money to make it run your better off spending some money modding an AU motor and you'l end up with more power. They will do 10psi piss easy dropping the compression down to 8.0 or 7.5:1 will do 15-16psi chuck in some typhoon rods your away.

My AU engine has been running 7psi @ 207kw at the wheels for 2-3 years, and is still running very nicely.
From what I've read so far, they seem to be reliable up to about 300rwkw. That's only what I've read across a few forums though, so don't know how accurate that figure is. |

so the snort stage 2 kit costs $3k for the kit, how much would it cost to install, if you had to get the work done proffesionaly? I only ask because I am hopeless with tools. How long would it take someone who knows their way around a turbo setup to install this?
If its not too long, and within 5-6k when you drive away, its a very atractive package for 200+ rwkw.

They can run 15 Lb on std compression easy with good tune!! Have to stop at 15 LB as valve springs have met their limit...In our case 250 rwkw with LOOSE converter, which will read low rwkw ....
So imo NO point in dropping compression much under 8.8 to 1.. Btw Typhoon rods are the same as LPG rods at heaps less $$ but if I was going to open an engine I'd fit better rods... Spool, Argo, Par etc..

i'm only aiming for 200-240kw, i will def settle for 200rwkw. If i don't have to open it up, i won't. Spending money on Rods,Forgies etc can come later (if it brakes).
Also is it possible to strengthen the T5 box enough to be comfortabe with 200kw? i know the box may handle it, but it is a reco so i'm unsure on the internal condition. Cheers Acidic

I had a quote a while back of $1000 for fitting. With a fuel pump and FMU you could have it done at about 5k drive away. ACIDIC wrote: i'm only aiming for 200-240kw, i will def settle for 200rwkw.
