that was made by another mob and they didnt do much after that. No the XF and the EA were made by the same mob. AIT folded some time in the very early 90's and one of the founding people went on to create AVO which is still going strong today. Anyone remember the RED EA turbo that had the record for the fastesat caravan tow? That was built by AVO. |

i wish lol. na i was buying a AIT kit from snort performance 2nd hand but the manifold had cracks so i upgraded to a stage 1 log manifold GT3582r and a 3" dump pipe.
but i done as much research as i could on the setup. piss easy to install and run but i didnt want a dodgy manifold and geoff looked after me. |

The AIT manifolds were made out of a new alloy (ni-resist) and know to crack easily around the turbo flange and just behind on the other side. Not as good as the Normalair Garett cast alloy manifold but they were only made for the 3.3/4.1 engines. I tried to make an adapter but ended up buying a custom steam pipe 4.0 manifold. They used a small flange TO4B (i think). AIT quoted 180kw and 7.5 secs to 100 and then the other package was 215kw and 6.5 secs to 100. Not that impressive for the $$$ back in those days so most of us stayed with the XD 351C with 750DP.
If anyone has the April 1990 Performance Street Car they had a shootout with Mick Webbs 3.9 EA SVO 5 speed running 7 psi and getting 14.14 quarters. That changed our minds but turbos were not reliable back then in the ET, EXA, Cordia and Starion days |
