Hey I'm lookig at buying a turbo and I've been recomended this size...
It's a Master Power GT37 with o trim .68ar housing. This is a message i got from the seller. Quote: Its all relative to how much peek power you want to make. 1.00 will work on a 4L but its not needed for 300wkw. The smaller .68ar housing will flow more than enough for 300wkw. and it will responed very quick.
so many combos will work well on any application. large ar will ensure max hp/psi effience and smaller a/r will have lower hp/psi but respond much earlier. and remember that a/r is only half the equation, whats often overlooked is the turbine trim. I only have .68ar with o trim. next size up is the p trim .68 or .84 i only have 1.00 in Q trim with t-64 compressor. This would be ideal for 450-500wkw on 4L What do you think?

So I'm guessing an AR of 1.00 in Q trim with t-64 (very similar to the garrett T-66) compressor would be more suited?
As you can see I Questioned his suggestion of an AR of .68

the a/r of any given housing really doesnt tell the whole story, like at 1.06ar on a gt30 does not flow as much as a 1.06 on a gt35 and not near as much as a .83 on a gt42

an o trim .68 is too small the .84 p trim ia a good streetable size if the compressor is right.

Masterpower make a sweet turbo dunno if u can get a big enuf housing with them for a 4l tho...... Heaps of vl guys are running them with very good results. Not quite up to a garrett and only oil cooled but well made ie: not your ebay specials..... Not a bad turbo for 900ish dollars imo

Point taken but if you are running a 1000hp turbo ie gt42 you need an exhaust housing that will also flow 1000hp that is why you would use a 1.15 as it is more comparitive to the compressor size. cheers Mic |

So do any of these two turbos sound alright?
I'm getting the specs sent to me and i'll put them up as well. Quote: T-64 aprox 700hp closest to garret T04R. only availble with the T4 turbine range from P, and gtQ
T-70 flowrate aprox 80lbs/min or 880hp this is larger than the T04Z offered by garrett. similer to garrett gt4294 wheel. only availble with the P trim and gtQ trim t4 turbines

no you dont, thats why you have a wastegate... you use the housing that gives best the best response for your needs, so long as it doesnt become a restriction on an rb26 with a gt42 you would certainly use a .83, if its just a case of the turbine housing flowing the same as the compressor then why do turbos come with various size options?????? my point was to highlight that simply quoting a .63 or a 1.15 turbine of various turbos is not a direct size comparison... also, have you noticed there is not flow maps for turbines, only compressors, since turbines are not rated in HP capability like compressors are

Well i got the specs of him for the two turbos...
And what does "p trim" and "gtQ" trim mean??? I'm guessing its got something to do with the exaust turbine? Thanks Quote: Hi both turbos use same core with 360deg thrust, bith are suitable for
applications over 1.5bar, The t-64 uses T-series 64mm/91mm compressor with .7 antisurge housing, Turbine option mainly come with gtQ trim turbine which is mpbt 67mm/74mm with .84ar or 1.00ar, I dont have any p trim options in stock or arriving. The t-70 uses T-series 70mm/91mm compressor with .7ar to4s housing, Turbine options are p trim 64mm/74mm and gtQ trim mpbt 67/74. housing normaly available are .5, .68, .84, .96, 1.00, none in stock untill aprox 20th of this month. we have made 485wkw at 23psi with this turbo on 2jZ toyota with p trim .84 turbine option.
