I am building one now (90% complete) and yeah as above ^^^^ not engineered. most wont be due to the large cost involved for little benifit.

thaks for that guys..

could someone shed light on the engineering/emmissions issue? Because i was contemplating turboing the EA but I want everything to be legal.. Because I would be using it as a daily, would have 3rd party insurance and obviously rego... what's the deal? I don't wanna tell rego/insure its a standard 6 then crash into a merc and be stuck with the bill..

How do you guys drive them on the streets without engineers? Illegally or is there a legal way to do so?

Same for the emmisions which I heared may cause the car to be unregisterable.

Many thanks, if I can't boost the EA I will most likely be buying a turbo Nissan.. but would love to keep the falcon.

once I have the engineer's certificate it can be registered? Do i need to pass an emmissions test also? 550 is steep seeing how it does nothing for my car's performance but I guess thats just another way for the government to rip people off..

thanks for the info though.

Na they are private motor engineers..
They not onlt did it for turbo but brakes, intercooler, bov, aircleaners, ecu, surge tank etc...
There is only one engine that has been required to pass emissions and we fitted four cats [turbo V8] and good tune with very little boost and it passed without issues.. We spent many hours on dyno though.. Bassically if it runs right it should pass... If it has cats, evap etc fitted with all epa it's ok..
Its the engineers cert you want.... EPA has nothing to do with road worthy etc anyway...

Ride: EF Turbo & ED N/A 6

Location: Perth
WA, Australia

Ive got my EF Turbo engineered over here in WA.... I had to apply thru the relevant department, who then approve the mods (in my case the turbo, rims and new exhaust) then I had to get a engineers cert.... Following that paperwork they approve the mods pending a inspection.... I then had to go to the relevant department pits and get it all approved..... It was a MAJOR pita, but worth it in the end because of insurance purposes.... I cant justify spending a fortune on a car only for your insurance company to f**k you over.....

thanks for all the info guys its much appreciated.

I'm considering getting a kit for the EA in the coming months (just something basic, looking for not much more than 200rwkw or so because i don't want my gearbox to break, reliability etc..)

who do i go to for to get it engineered? Its much more complicated than getting your mechanic to fill out the required forms isn't it?

Best person to speak to is John from Consulmotive

He is the best engineer in Sydney as he will go through everything with u 2 get the car right so it can pass.

You will definalty need a emmisions test done and must pass then u can be issued with a engineer's certificate.

my mate has an ef turbo, had to put standard cam back in, new cats, smaller exhaust and run basically no boost to pass emissions in sydney.

F**k thats a fair bit of effort.. been thinking about it a lot, will probably keep this one NA and just the usual mods, then when i get sufficient funds, as much as i hate to say it, go a turbo jap car.

aha rereading this thread and seeing boosted eseries has made me wanna go turbo again!! bloody govt allows factories to spew out so much s**t into the environment that the world is warming yet turboing a falcon would be environmentally unsafe.
