Ok, would like to know of peoples ideas and thoughts.......
So i have a AU XR6 ser1 ute, stock as atm and im looking at either 1, Adding a turbo kit to the AU motor and building it up to suit. 2, Buying a BA XR6T motor and box or 3, Fitting a supercharger kit of some sort to the AU motor Any thoughts or experinces would be good Ps have thought about buying a BA turb, but like some features of the AU over the BA. Plus like things a lil different Craig. |

go the turbo on the au motor.
get an acl oringed gasket, cam, and high volume oil pump. get a turbo kit costs vary depending on overall power you want. 3" exhaust, front mount cooler, big fuel pump, injectors and reg. Maybe go computer as well depending on how much power you want. alot of variables just think about wat you want for the end result and do it.

You can EASY get 280 rwkw with std compression with good tune [good ecu], springs, mild cam...
Leave the rotating assembly and save your money... IMO run about 240 rwkw and all will be fine. With auto and trans cooler.. Over that everything needs major attention... You'll have over 800 FtLb torque with good throttle responce. Very little lag with 9.6 compression...

Whats your budget?
ba motor and box would blow everything else out of the water, especially if you got a nizpro upgrade kit or similar, but it'll also blow the fck out of your wallet. |

yer dont quite have a open wallet HAHA, seen BA turbs for about 5k mark, was just a idea??? But if the AU motor will handle some mild boost ok ill stick with a bolt on kit.
EBXR8380, what would have to be done to get that without the turb???? Craig. |

EBXR8380, what would have to be done to get that without the turb???? Craig. lol you definitely need a turbo to get that power. he was just stating how stock you could keep your motor even with the boost. a higher compression ratio means you cant run as much boost safely, BUT, it cuts out lag before the boost kicks in. I dont think you could get that power safely and reliably, especially for a daily. a computer to run something with that much power is over the 1k mark already. I think aiming for 200rwkws would be a much more achievable target, especially on a budget. Its still pretty powerful, much more than stock, and will be much more reliable. the stage 2 snort kit with cooler is what i'd buy, especially with a budget in mind. |

Limit the boost to 10psi or less and you won't need to open the motor. That'll be good for 200 - 250 rwkw depending on intercooling, exhaust etc. Stock injectors are good for 160-170 rwkw so the fuel system will need upgrading. There's a SC build going on ATM aiming for 200rwkw from an AU with 36lb injectors and stock pump and reg. IIRC the stock fuel pump pegs out at about 220-240 rwkw. Getting power isn't hard, but reliability depends on the tune. A well setup 250rwkw car is still a very nice daily driver.

First you need to do this...Or similar..
A T connector before that oil pressure sender.. Not yet fitted .. This is to feed oil to turbo.. A -3 braded hose will do, even brake line... Fit up turbo / manifold. In this case its a T04Z .84 A.R.. Tial wastegate.. If using GT3540 it can come with internal wastegate.. Fitted with aie cleaner, latter to be boxed .. In our case we fabricated a plenum with front throttle body.. All done.. It runs EMS 8860 with 42 LB injectors, Walbro 255 intank pump.. The engine is TOTALLY std..It now runs a prepped c4 that is bilt to handle 700 h.p.... Fairmont ED / AU turbo...

Torque is hard to get in this application as it has loose converter 3000 rpm..As soon as it hit the boost was so quick it spun straight up to rpm limit.. Compression and near 4" stroke means engines make heaps of it... Why there MPH is low but ET is good compared to other cars....
